We competed well for an hour or so then their class told.and we tired quite a bit.

Should have scored in the 1st half.

We was playing a team that think they can win the hardest league in the world and for 60 min we matched them

Three Arsenal players in the Scum team of the day. THREE . They were made to look ordinary for the first hour, so where do you even get one let alone three. BBC had Ozil MotM. They clearly saw him do something I didn't.

This media bias really does my head it :steam:

Losing 3-0 and 2-0 to Arsenal and City who to be fair are a different quality to anybody else in this league is no shame. We have the best support in the country which is amazing when you look back to Palace at Wembley! We're on a well defined path and will be interesting to see how we progress and get on Arsenal away later, meantime this performance tells me we're in the mix for the mid top table if we just keep the confidence levels up....

He had some nice touches like all the Arsenal players do but doesn't always deliver.

You can see why they frustrate thier fans at times.

Even the goals were from trying to walk the ball into the net

Ozil had a good game and set up our first two goals. His passing helped pull your team out of shape and create the openings which then caused your downfall.

As an Arsenal fan I thought Watford played well. Worked really hard and for the first hour managed to keep up the work rate. But against Arsenal, playing 2 up top it was inevitable that our possession and movement of the ball would tire your team out and find it hard to cover the ground and spaces (particularly the two in the midfield) and when a crack appeared the dam broke.

Against teams further down the table I'd expect Watford to be picking up a decent haul of points if they continue to put in a shift like yesterday. But against the better teams you may need to adapt the tactics and maybe pack out the midfield more.

We did really well for the first 60 mins or so and particularly in the first half Arsenal were struggling to keep their passing game fluid. But in the second half their quality began to show. I thought Cazorla was their best player as he seems to be everywhere - but fully understand afcftw's point regarding Ozil. He is a player that does not stand out in the English game, but his passing and positioning is total quality.
We need to take our chances and we need to own the midfield against teams who have the quality like Arsenal. On the odd occasion an Arsenal player mis-controlled a ball, there was always cover and space to recover. But I am not too downbeat, without a doubt that is the best team we have played at The Vic in years and yes 3-0 is hard, but we need to learn and move on.
Fully agree with Aberdeen our fans have completely changed home games, the 10 minutes up to Arsenal scoring were awesome - the whole ground was rocking.

We should have tried to run in the channel at the side of Mertesacker more. He is a class central defender on the ball but more potent attacks than ours will expose him - perhaps having Anya running at him may have been worth a try. I've seen Berghuis make 2 substitute appearances in televised games and am still trying to work out why we signed him. Ibarbo looks like he could potentially cause opposition problems with his power, although he does seem to be trying too hard to impress.

Somehow we have not yet found the right balance between defence and attack. We have tried to build a solid defence, whereas Norwich and Bournemouth have continued with there policy of attacking and have shipped a load of goals this weekend. The class of Man City and Arsenal is there for all to see, but not sure about Newcastle having too much.

Not sure I've ever subscribed to the 'invisible man' theory, but my point was three Arsenal players in a team of the day (Ozil wasn't one of them by the way) is way over the top. If the match finished goalless then I have no doubt the MotM would have been Deeney or Capoue. The 3 goals in 12 minutes distorted the facts. At least the Sunday Times gave a more balanced account.

Aresenal beating arguably the best club side in the world (not us yet!!) puts our performance on Saturday in some perspective eh? We're the filling in a Man U and Bayern sandwich for Arsenal and performed on par with those particular slices of bread. In my mind very impressive and a credit to QSF, TD, GP and the whole club setup....
