It looks to me that we have a team to be proud of. It didn't seem that there was a real difference between the two sides in ability, just a bit more desire from us in the last five-ten minutes.
What a game Not impressed with Gray, taking him off made so much sense. Can't believe we got the 2nd goal.... 4th... Perfect birthday pressie!!
No doubt Wenger and the media will point to the penalty incident as what changed the game but certainly in the second half we really took the game to Arsenal after a fairly even first during which we were just caught out with poor marking from the corner. True Gomes saved us a couple of times but once we scored only looked like one team going to win and thankfully once again we came up trumps! Very good tactical change for Silva once more bringing Deeney on. Dominated midfield 2nd half and I'd say probably deserved to win in the end.
They didn't exactly moan about the decision as far as I am aware. I was even more pleased we did get the winner though as least it just won't be about us "nicking a point from a contentious penalty" In theory Richarlinson would miss Chelsea away and Stoke home - maybe not the worse games to miss as he would probably be targeted!
The commentators I had who were not from the UK, immediately called it a penalty. Is this another "big team" defence from UK journalists?
Well maybe but they all seem to hate Arsenal and love it when they lose! As I say we deserved a point at least based on the 2nd half and if their highly paid world cup winner had put away his chance they would have not had to worry about an errant decision. BTW Danny Welbeck is the most injury prone player ever I think - shame as he is a decent attacking option for England (speaking as an England fan)
There was contact. He went down easy. They can be given or let go. This time the decision was in our favour. Having been foulded all over the pitch on and off the ball he deserved it. Lots of stand out performances: Gomes made a number of saves - his best game of the season. Richarlison came strong 2nd half when we started to find him more with the out ball. Cleverley in a changed position was excellent. Kabasele - in fact the whole back 3 then 5 played well. Deeney off the bench made a big difference.
'Evening / 'Morning Everyone! More than a bit piddled tonight. Thoroughly deserved win. I will not begrudge a penny of any Watford player's money today. Not one. They properly earned it. Soft goal for Arsenal. "Soft" penalty? Perhaps. F*** 'em! Seen them given against us for so much less. Then Cleverly....if he wasn't already a legend, he is now! And as to what Silva said at half-time...??? Fourth eh? Who'da thunk it????
He goes down easily but it's not simulation because there's contact. If Arsene Wenger was in the other dugout he'd want the penalty there. Danny Murphy Ex-England midfielder on Match of the Day
Richarlison might be banned it seems if the panel agree with this ex ref but should the punishment come in all the time - not just when the ref gets it '"wrong" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...unished-dive-against-arsenal-it-had-decisive/ As OFH says Arsenal would have demanded a penalty had it been on the other foot.
Reading that, I can only say what a load of b*ll*cks from Hackett. "I saw on Match of the Day that they were saying there was contact, but you can still simulate contact, you can move towards the player and make sure there is contact. It is still conning the referee. It is still diving." So, after a struggle to run past him, Richarlison moved his back towards Bellerin's arm and pretended to be pushed? And as for the second comment on the article - what an idiot...
A lot of so called big names are saying it was a dive ,So he will get a 2 game ban because its Watford .The ref thinks it was a penalty so yes it is. Give Rich 2 weeks off so he can have a holiday back home and come back refreshed
I bet Arsenal and co will be gutted one of our best players has to miss Chelsea away potentially.... And actually isn't that the problem with punishing players afterwards in a way? - they might miss a game against somebody's rival! To us despite the great start Chelsea away is a bonus game (if they are on form) but to Arsenal and the like its a game they'd hope we'd take points from. Its the sort of situation a Jose or Klopp will pick up on.
Frankly there have been way more worse dives that have not been reffered to the panel and I do not believe it was a dive.
