Barcelona eyeing up Asprilla according to this. "Watford, for their part, are likely to demand a fee of €40-50m for the midfielder, with Joao Pedro’s move to Brighton last summer setting a precedent for the sale of future talents. That’s a fee Barcelona would presumably struggle to pay given their financial situation" Maybe a deal could be struck if they had another Deulofeu they'd like to give us in part exchange... https://sportwitness.co.uk/barcelona-firmly-hunt-watford-star-want-get-ahead-growing-competition/
Some crackers there . They posted this on the Watford Twitter page too. Some of the comments were rather negative as ever though!
Hurtado to have a knee operation. That'll be him out for a while. https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway...tford-loan-player-s-injury-status-isn-302242/
Yes. I guess how much time out depends on the level of damage to his cartilage though. At least it is keyhole surgery these days - unlike days of yore when I had mine done, when they would open the knee up and simply remove the whole thing.
Some years ago I was in the RNOH having a hip op. A South African athlete came in, they took a bit of cartilage/meniscus out and the plan was to grow it over three months, then implant it. Amazing
Going well for the U21s team. Some positive displays from some of them. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24145412.watford-u21s-beat-charlton-wind-go-five-unbeaten/
A win for the U18s yesterday too - against ex-Hornet Micah Hyde's QPR side. https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2024/february/26/match-report--watford-u18s-3--qpr-u18s-2-/
The latest from Andrew French - a very good read about the VI sacking rumours. Might be worth revisiting later today to see what the usual suspects say in the comments section. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...sm-hurts-football-generally-not-just-watford/
So someone doesn’t like the way we play then says we should appoint someone who works with Brendan Rodgers ? Another manager who is all about possession based football with the ball being played from the back etc .
I'm not sure which manager you're referring to - but if you mean Chris Davies (the only one I can see mentioned in the comments) he doesn't work with Brendan Rodgers, he's senior assistant coach at Spuds. If he has learned anything at all from Ange Postecoglu, he would be a more than decent acquisition. Mind you, we'd probably need a shedload of new players for him to work with.
Ah yes misread it. Says a mentor - my bad. Guess he was at Celtic , Leicester etc with BR before going to Spurs . Probably wouldn’t be in a mad rush to leave them and yes probably require a lot of players - when in all likelihood we might actually lose some of our better ones. Mind you know what fans of all clubs are like - great playing attacking football but once you start losing then they turn .
