Last year HMRC raised a £5m tax assessment against him on the grounds that he was billing the BBC and BT Sport as a contractor - the bills coming from, and payments going to, his business Gary Lineker Media Ltd. - effectively meaning that he avoided paying PAYE as well as national Insurance as a 'disguised employee'. I've no idea which side won the case though - it may even still be ongoing.
