13 squid a game. That's roughly 325 MXP. That's a good deal. I forget what a pound gets you nowadays, but guess it isn't much. It is all relative to what you earn / spend / save in your country I know. But, when I last came to England as a tourist the exchange rate screwed me. It was tears at the bar! A beer in a bar here is going to cost you a quid or a couple at a posh place!
I was going to miss the Burnley game altogether but now I will get to see it. I might yet not get to go if work dictates, but we have an appointment with Gatwick Airport on the Saturday afternoon.
Wow - I know we had a rubbish season but some of the almost hatred for our players seems to be pretty intense tbh . Not saying Kabasele is a great player and doesn’t make errors but he seems like a fairly harmless guy who does a lot in the community and as this interview shows at least willing to talk to fans . It is PR guff to some extent but all sports people look to say the right thing ... I think some of our fans need to chill out a bit almost - yes criticise their performances as players but must not get personal. I certainly don't think players like Kabasele are an issue except maybe we could have got better players but that isn't their fault.. Wonder if Norwich and Burnley fans - or fans of other teams relegated react the same towards their squad?
Sadly most football fans are very blinkered..... me included at times There are so many factors that determine how a player is seen to perform on the pitch......
Seems to have been a major increase in the Pozzo era with ridiuclously high expectations and football manager approach to the game.....
And off it - some bloke later in that thread saying Kabasele is the worse person he has seen on or off the pitch in years ! Must be a personal issue as there is nothing to suggest Kabs creates problems off the pitch at all - in fact as I say vseems very much engaged in the community and with fans. I almost feel some fans won't get behind the team until basically the whole squad gets sold with a few exceptions. Not that it would mean we suddenly start winning again.. Guess last season - losing so many at home knocked a lot of people for six!
'Pride and ego' eh...... the more we link how good we feel to the results on the pitch... the worse we get affected.... . and if WFC is the biggest thing in our lives... then........ we dont want to feel bad so we have to put it on a scapegoat etc etc.....but... once we start winning it all flips around..... I guess that is why after 60 years of supporting I cant do the roller coaster any more......too painful!
It's silly really - life always has its ups and downs, but football always has more of them. Unless you're a player, revolving your life around football is a recipe for poor mental health.
Last season seemed particularly bad for people showing their anger and frustration. We’ve had lots of disappointing seasons and average players . Probably down to the fact our home was so poor and there was an expectation to do so much better . Personally thought the previous relegation was more disappointing in a way as we had better players and it was more avoidable. Last season with the odd exception we just weren’t good enough quality wise . I don’t know if we lacked effort as such but I think because players earn so much now fans expect them to run and run till they drop.
A disaster ! I was planning to take my 2 grandsons to the Burnley game - especially as one of them is surrounded by Burnley supporters at school and the other is on a rare trip here from Portugal. This scuppers my whole weekend plans for them and us.
