No - just seems to be the front page picture and title. Probably means nothing and well he is hardly performing like someone who would attract interest from top clubs.
Talk on Twitter is the new man won’t arrive till the New Year due to travel restrictions so might miss the Norwich and Swansea games ..
Deeney bashing going on here (started by someone with a photo of Marlon King!) http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/deeney-how-does-he-get-away-with-it.57910/ Do you agree to an extent or does Troy deserve more respect? Is the issue that there is no-one else any good to replace him as either leader or striker.. I mean we all seem to be pinning our hopes on Perica - hardly a proben goalscorer. In the summer it was 37 year old Glen Murray and a young kid from Brazil or Spain. Can you think of whose else would make a good captain?
Ben Foster - for the short term, and then Daniel Bachmann, if he stays. After that, Wilmot, who has been touted as a future captain They sound like an odd bunch on that forum - the old saying that 'familiarity breeds contempt' seems never truer with them. I suppose everyone is entitled to his/her opinion on every issue, but I'll bet not one of them has even met Deeney, making their dislike of him a bit irrational.
Well he might be past his best but as I say there is no one to replace him . As Saturday proved it’s not like we have a great set of strikers waiting to come in. And I presume the club allow him to be on TS and write in the sun? I am sure he isn’t that powerful that they cannot say no - sorry Troy not this one to him or don’t discuss club matters. If he is then that is a problem for the owners and Duxbury. Bit like the idea Deeney must be selected and demands to be by the manager . I cannot see the likes of Pearson and Ivic standing for such nonsense. If anything feel a bit sorry for Troy as it does look like Ivic got sacked basically because he fell out with Deeney which I sure isn't the case or as simple as that.
There's no doubt that Troy has influence in the dressing room - he is, after all, the club's captain and a senior player of long standing - but I doubt he has the power that many seem to think he has. Many of those who claim that he has, also like to denigrate the Pozzos for their ruthlessness in the way they run the club - to my mind, they can't have it both ways, the two images they conjure up are simply at odds with each other. For me, there's little doubt that they are ruthless businessmen, football being what it is they simply have to be, especially in current times. There's little doubt that Deeney's star is on the wane too, and I expect the Pozzos to be ruthless with him in the not-too-distant future. That's just the way it is in football - always has been.
The fact that his successor was already at the club and could be announced as soon as it was shows that the club were getting ready to pull the trigger Lets hope this appointment actually works out for us
There is a part of me who thinks the best thing for Watford and Deeney would be a free transfer to Birmingham at the end of this season so he could get a signing on fee The goodbyes on the last home game (if there are fans) would be very emotional As for his long term replacement, we all saw him in our game against Brentford, if Sarr was worth £30-40m (which ever was true) then the club should go all out to get Toney, he is so much like Deeney was at his peak
Sadly missed that chance I feel. I suspect they hoped Gray or even Success would be that Deeney replacement. Instead this summer we got Glen Murray . You are right - he is a senior professional and so will speak up but maybe he is the only one who does apart from Foster . I mean have we ever heard Cathcart speak or Cleverley? Probably injured too much . I do actually agree this discipline issue should have been done in house but once the manager commented it became a public matter .
Which shows the club have to think to themselves what do they really want, if it is success then they have to pay the money to get a top striker in I would even sell Sarr to get Toney
I heard Xisco was coming in as assistant manager a day before the Huddersfield game so the Pozzos already planned a change which I'm sure Ivic sussed due to his tactical and team pick behaviour. As for Deeney, he is as bemused as anybody about what he had done wrong and in a separate interview/statement Duxbury confirmed that he was not to blame or any disciplinary matter existed. Some of the stuff coming out of the dressing room is true and some false. What is true is that Ivic says little during half time or the end of the match, infact many times it is complete silence and at Huddersfield he left the changing room almost immediately. Apparently against Brentford it was Deeney that stood up and gave a motivating team talk whilst Ivic was silent at half time.
Yes - he didn’t seem like the motivational type or one to get into them during games. Ivic often left any complaints till after the game in public which probably didn’t go down well. A strong manager would have told Troy he wants a word now or got his attention later rather than let Troy make an excuse to bot speak then not really speak to him if what has been said happened. I think the Deeney stuff is a bit of a smokescreen and he was going anyway.
