I think it is very clear.... If you want to play for Watford, then come and join in. If you are not 100% committed then sure, consider your options, but you wont be considered part of my team until you are fully committed. I am gutted that Deeney does not feel that he can commit to us, and along with others will not be considered for the squad, but feel that the stance Ivic is taking is in the best interests of Watford. Personally I think that some of these players hoping to move, may be disappointed and will have to have a heart to heart with the manager come the day the window closes. I bear no grudge to Deeney, I hope that he stays, just disappointed that he feels he cannot commit to us and really cement his place in our hearts(a la Luther, Gibbsy et al) by getting us back to the EPL
No Dan Philips in the U23s, I guess that means he'll be involved again tomorrow night for the League Cup?
I would hazard a guess that by far the large majority of players in any club, in any league, in any country would consider better offers if they came along. In Deeney's case, I'm not aware that he has said he is leaving, only that he would consider offers from clubs in a higher division - in fact he has said that he would be happy to stay. Just my opinion, but I think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion.
please log in to view this image Hungbo and Forster have each rattled the woodwork but it's goalless at half-time in this U23 PDL match against @ColU_Official .
Maybe, and I do hope that you are correct, but there is so much conjecture going around, it is hard to know what is what
Just a little further on Deeney, he has said also that he won't ask for a transfer. My opinion is the club want to go with youth so will move him on if the right offer comes in. They decided long ago not to offer him a new contract. If he stays I'm certain he will give his best.
Trouble is it now looks like we might lose 2 young players and Murray isn't one for the future ! I guess Deeney wants a crack at the Premier league again which is fair enough.
So, to summarise, we start with limited goalscoring options and an obvious defensive weakness (no left back). Sound familiar?
Well that's good news - and bad news. Also good news is that both Sarr and Suarez could be in contention this weekend.
It was also stated that Deeney was not back training with the squad yet and no mention when he would.
