Watford have taken on stadium design firm Populous — who led the development of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — to work on the planned expansion of Vicarage Road.

The design company that also worked on the regeneration of Wembley have been instructed to finalise architectural designs for the planned two-phase project that could cost up to £40 million to complete.

 

Now that sounds serious... No more corners to fill in eh!

Given our precarious league position, do you think that this will actually progress very far or will get scrapped rather quickly?

 

I think that this is has always been something that the Pozzos have had in mind. The SEJ stand as I understand it was designed to have an additional tier on it. The Vicarage Road stand has all sorts of problems with access, but could be altered at a cost, but I suspect it could be replaced. My guess is that this is something that will not be that happening for a year or two, so the question of spending any money on players or ground expansion will not be asked this season

It suggests that the Pozzo's intend to stay in the EPL.

 

That may be the case but a football club belongs with its assets on the pitch.

 

If we're gonna have a 30k stadium then we're gonna need better infrastructure in the town.

 

Like sorting out the ring road which is a nightmare !
