According to the WO Holebas will be banned for Liverpool plus Cardiff as the FA Cup tie doesn't count. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...watfords-games-at-cardiff-city-and-liverpool/ Hopefully someone else can cope with marking Salah and co!
Come on Newcastle! If they can hang on we are going to be 1 point behind them and I think we have the better run-in. The home match against them in April will be huge both for 7th place and I gave a premonision of a W v W cup final!
The doggies are right up there with l*t*n and neverton in my book, so please no. If we're going to make it a golden final then WFC v NCAFC will do nicely... especially as our paths crossed at the services on the way up to Newcastle / Middlesbrough.
The club accounts are out to June 2018 and show a loss of £31 M. The figures do not appear to include any money from Everton for the transfer of Richarlison. A quick glance suggests that the dodgy bank letter might have costs us £4.3 M, although it is not explicit what it is for.
Not too surprising - that was the season we bought Gray (£18m), Richarlison (£11m), Cleverley (£8m), Hughes (£8m), Chalobah (£5/6m), Lukebakio (£5m) Spent about £65m and recouped about £15m The year to June 2019 will look much better with the only big outlay being Deleofeu Net spend of about £50m and a loss of £30m, so expect a profit in the next accounts
Maybe this is why we saw less spending last summer and in January - because the previous season we spent so much and made a large loss! We do still need to be somewhat self-sustainable and can't spend ridiculous amounts each year. Makes you wonder how Bournemouth can spend as much as they do - think they've had an outlay of about £200m since promotion with very little coming the opposite way
Yeah I know but that soon gets eaten up by wages! If we had a net spend of £50m and made a £30m loss that year, then we are only really making about £20m profit even with such large tv money It would be interesting to see what some of the salaries are like. Only takes half a dozen players to be on £50k a week and Deeney on close to £100k a week (if rumours are true )and that's £25m right there! You can easily imagine the likes of Delofeu, Pererya, Doucoure (after his new contract) will be on more than £50k
You can see why being relegated is such a disaster for clubs paying high wages. Hopefully Watford would have clauses added to reduce sums if relegated.
You'd hope every team outside the top 6/7 would have clauses that reduce the salaries on relegation - but imagine most agents wouldn't like that... although no doubt would insist on some relegation release clause to let the player leave!
This is a very interesting podcast. Not too accurate at the start but generally very positive. https://www.tifofootball.com/podcast/whats-going-on-at-watford/
More good news for Gray then ! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47234017 Avoided being found guilty of an offence in the US.
Sounds like Tommie Hoban has picked up a bad knee injury according to the BBC site. Carried off in a lot of pain .
