Duncan? A late (badly timed) tackle? No it was a perfect tackle and didn't draw a foul. And not long after that the whistle and Endean's goal was enough. Very happy days. And I remember when Wolves called off Duncan's testimonial I was lucky enough to go to the concert given by our Elton (just Elton, no band as they were on tour) as an alternative. A great night although I remember Duncan looking a bit ackward up on stage standing next to Elton dressed as a big hornet Anyone else get to that, or the similar event for John Williams the next year?
Free pre-match drinks vouchers will be handed out at this Saturday's Watford match, against Burnley, to honour the second anniversary of Graham Taylor's death. The game has been earmarked by the club as a day to celebrate the life of the former Hornets manager, who took the club all the way from the fourth division into European competition.
That is good as Mr Dyche will (hopefully still in employment !) be in attendance as well. Be decent Burnley people who attend
Certainly remember the Liverpool game, standing on the middle of Vic Road TERRACES (those were the days) consoling, cos I'm nice, a weeping Liverpool person at the final whistle standing next to me !! He swore at me, from memory was considerably bigger than I - I left the ground, but smiling
Is the photo next to one of 'Pen' ? , assume referred to the one believe was on debut ( re M.D.Thread v Woking )
Guess you would have been there too OF ? if your Mum let you.....I had to be home by 5,meant a sprint to Harrow
I went with my Mum and stood at the front of the Shrodells 'family enclosure' - had a good view of the winner, Endean's header seemed to be on Lawrences fingertips forever before going on to hit the back of the net!
Believe was that day actually, more usually at one of the sides..if the cinders/shale had gone by then. Barry Endean, what a short-lived Wonder he was ,forerunner to Jim Lawton
I got it from "EBAY" 7 to 10 years ago it come out of the WOBBY and someone back then got them all to sign it i only payed 30 pound .My wife then payed 300 to have it treated and framed so it will never fade (as it is newspaper )
A lot of us were there on that day against Liverpool. I was on the Rookery at the time, and I know several others were as well. We were all young in those days and didn't know each other (?????) - little did we know that we would be doing stupid things like sitting in front of a keyboard debating politics 50 years later (going round and round in circles) - all of us dotted around in different parts of the World. But on saturdays at 3pm we all become lads again (at least in spirit) COYH !
Good post Cologne, have a good weekend. I was in the middle of the rough bit of the Rookery trying to look tough.
I've got it,you're not named after that ex so entertaining Winger..you're actually Scally One A lot of us, well yes about 34,000 I would think. Rookery was pretty much for naughty people (like Brexiteers)
A great tribute to Duncan by Ollie. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...er-phillips-pays-tribute-to-duncan-welbourne/
Knew you'd be right about somehing eventually you Loony Leftie. In my -humble- opinion youre spot on re Mr Deeney (Captain by the way) - and mouth. Inconsistent on the pitch for some time now and rumour has it is not underpaid but seems to have a free rein at the club. At least though this episodes given a platform for the couple or so 'its not fair','we're always picked on' contributors on here....who'd say exactly the same thing if say a player at Bournemouth 'Did A Deeney'-course they would
Hmm.. Seems like the club and Gary Lineker have had a spat on Twiiter. https://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sp...ord-slam-pundit-and-marco-silva-37732333.html
