Attracting some interest from the US. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...rns-down-125m-bid-for-36-of-watford-36dr8d5wm
Prolific (the bidder), through its Private Equity Investment Fund, Red Room Capital, typically makes controlling interest investments into synergistic operating companies within 5 core verticals: Music, Film & TV, Facilities & Venues, Entertainment Marketing, Entertainment Technology & IP Seems an odd one as their bid is not for control (at the moment) and doesn't really fit their 5 target areas. And todate they are very US focussed. Wouldn't have thought they see the Vic as a Venue for other things! Or do they want to make the film: The Elton and GT story? Their worth seems hidden in a network of companies, and I'm suspicious that on LInkedIn they refer to being connected with 'Horizon Media' which has a 6.5 billion dollar turnover, while not mentioning their own worth or turnover But seems as daft to me as La Liga playing a game in the US Bet we hear no more.
Are the Pozzos looking for money to take us to the next level? Giving someone a 30% share is not going to take the club away from them. Having said that, it would appear that the don't trust these film people and ave pulled out. The fact that i\the story has come out suggests that the Pozzos are indicating that they would welcome extra investment. It seems that they are valuing Watford FC at GBP350m, which is more than the asking price for Newcastle.
Holebas seem to be a media favourite: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/01/watford-jose-holebas-olympiakos-roma Just had an interview with Capoue on 5live . Naturally asked him about that tackle last week - as you'd expect just shrugged it off - hardly going to say "Yes, I went to hack Zaha out of the game" although did say is he very quick. Sounded very positive about Gracia and looking to playing Spurs although just sees it another game. Spoke very well btw...not really heard Capoue before.
Sorry Yorkie. You hope we haven't heard the last of them, or you hope they do not invest??? Important to note that there is no mention of investment, just the purchase of shares. The 125 million would go into Gino's pocket. So what might the motive be? For Gino I can see he might want to diversify so taking out 125 million makes perfect sense. And as we all know relegation is always a threat and what would be our value if we were in the Championship? For the US guys I'm baffled. Who the hell in the US knows where Watford is and cares about our part in the Prem? Well Brian of course, and a few thousand others possibly. I'd like to think the plan is to relaunch the UK film industry and they see Watford close to Elstree. And to be honest, while I was joking, a film about Elton has great potential: His music, his sexuality, his royal connections, his football club, and so much more. But I'm not sure why owning a Watford stake would really help with that. Be nice to know what their interest was/is but we may never know. Of course should anyone see anything further please do post. But thanks for raising it Mark. It is an intriguing story.
Didn't you realise that when Becks bought a large house in Letchmore heath/Aldenham, it was part of a deal with Elton. He would relaunch her music career and he would play for Watford. About as much truth as a bunch of US chancers buying into Watford.

JT are you suggesting this is a made up tabloid-like story? And that no offer was made and that the Pozzos did not reject it?

Sorry - the first bit was made up. The second bit could well be true, But I intended to say i thought it pretty unlikely - given the Pozzo's track record. However, I suspect that if we continue to progress, then they might get an offer they can't refuse. A bit like their attitude to head coaches. It has been said (and I think it's entirely rational) that at Watford a head coach will last about 2 years. Any good, a bigger club will take him, no use we'll replace him.
I wanted to reply by saying that any offer can be refused, but then I remembered that I am a fan and they aren't.
Wouldn't want them to capitulate but I can imagine they'd be grateful if we knocked them out of this cup. Nothing but hassle for them. So maybe we will see a very 2nd eleven team from them. As for offering Watford a minimum 10% of tickets I wonder if 30,500 will go. Depends how effective the Spurs boycott call is, I guess.
the problem is they will only give us 3k they cant mix fans up and with ****on close we could sell out
Cathcart involved in a mix up for the Bosnia 2nd goal it seems - maybe getting any mistakes out of the way for country!
