Deeney & Holobas were probably our best players. Perayra became more influential and made a number of important passes 2nd half. Sampdoria kept the ball well 1st half. 2nd half we played higher. Should be fair though that in that heat it was played very much like a friendly or testimonal I think I heard someone say.
Have you just found £54 or more down the back of the sofa? If so you might wish to spend it at the Vic. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/an-evening-with-john-barnes-nigel-callaghan-tickets-48619995716
I see Paul Merson says we might well go down due to a lack of threat up front...fair enough. But then says Deeney is our main man and our best hope.. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ason-preview-hornets-lacking-forward-momentum
10 Observer fans (one supporter from each club) reckon we'll be relegated. So what - we are always expected to go down. We stayed up even though rich... did nothing for 30 games. No fault of his. But as last year we'll score more from midfield than other teams expect. Also I think we had the highest number of different goalscorers. As Matt Rowson said in his Observer piece about us, with our midfield almost anyone could play up front. Interesting that Holebas was apparently really good last Sat - now he has genuine competition for his place. I think we have considerable flexibility now, in terms of how we play, and how to beat teams.

Me too, but I would like to see a picture looking straight at the statue from the front before I make my mind up.
I think the fact its modelled on his mid 80s appearance might be a factor in people thinking its not quite like GT. My Dad suggested it looked more like Bobby Robson!

New rules for the new season. Can't see anything to worry about. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...19-season?_branch_match_id=556449681681089897
Those of you talking about the statue - there was an amazing article in the souvenir programme which went through the whole process. If you can get a copy I recommend it as it may make more sense. Pundits. I am staying round my mum's for a couple of days. As we sat down for dinner last night she asked how we had played. Once I told her she started ranting about Robbie Savage as he was saying we would get relegated. I did suggest he may have a point and her response was "I often think you know nothing about the game but you know ten times more than that blithering idiot". Having a mum who loves sport can be a blessing and a curse!
In defence of those commentators paid to fill the gaps in programmes we often demand they actually say something interesting rather than the bleeding obvious. They have to come up with three teams they think will struggle, I can logically see why a neutral may include our beloved team within this group. Isn't it fun proving them wrong each year?
Adrian Mariappa has signed a new two year contract. I think he has been great since he came back as a squad player and fully deserves a thank you from the club.
Is it within the realms of possibility that Silva advised Richarlison to not try too hard to score for Watford after he left. "I've got the Everton job lined up and will be back for you straight away" "Rich, we need to try to keep your price down so the new chairman plays ball"
