Early change for Watford - Prödl on for Kabasele. The Horns under the cosh in the first ten mins. great save by Gomes, one on one against Agbonlahor after 3 mins. Villa with a goal disallowed after 7 mins.
Five subs at the same time... Gomes, Kaboul, Cleverley, Doucoure & Amrabat replaced by Pantilimon, Femenia, Watson, Hughes & Okaka
Final score 0-0. I'm not sure that GT would have been impressed... Pluses: Mason looked impressive throughout, Success certainly has more than 70 minutes in his legs, Hughes added spark to the midfield when he came on & Femenia looks classy; Minuses: Kaboul still looks cumbersome, and all I can say about Sinclair is - Why?
Dull game livened up by Hughes abs new right back impressing. Need some more up front although Success did ok. Defence caught out a few times - Mason was solid at full back. Trust us to get another injury.. Gomes doing what he does best - saving penalties!
This chap sounds as if he knows what he is talking about. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/colney-chat-gavin-benjafield
Not sure this is a good thing but MS is putting pressure on the club to bring in the new players he needs in the next 2 weeks
Well he'd prefer to start the season with all of his targets in place but he'll know well enough that that is probably not possible. I think there are sections of the support who are unduly worried about the current situation. It's possible that the mooted deals will fall through but I don't think the Pozzo's will let us down, they just might have to spend a bit more than they've envisaged.
True - and I don't think that having a transfer window open until nearly three weeks after the start of the season helps. Given the train of thought that new players take time to bed in, why can't the transfer window run from 1st June to 31st July so that coaches at least have a better chance of getting a settled team before the season starts?
I suspect it is a mistake, confusion or bad journalism, but according to Ladbrooks Nathaniel Chalobah is out with a long term injury.

Squad numbers announced on club website. Nos 11 and 12 free...(and 13 but is that ever used?) Daryl Janmaat has switched from 22 to 2 and Jerome Sinclair moves from 19 to 17. Nathaniel Chalobah has been handed the number 14 shirt whilst fellow new signings Will Hughes will wear 19, Kiko Femenia will be number 21 and Daniel Bachmann is 35. 1 Heurelho Gomes 2 Daryl Janmaat 3 Miguel Britos 4 Younes Kaboul 5 Sebastian Prödl 6 Adrian Mariappa 7 Nordin Amrabat 8 Tom Cleverley 9 Troy Deeney 10 Isaac Success 14 Nathaniel Chalobah 15 Craig Cathcart 16 Abdoulaye Doucoure 17 Jerome Sinclair 19 Will Hughes 20 Mauro Zarate 21 Kiko Femenia 23 Ben Watson 25 Jose Holebas 26 Brice Dja Djedje 27 Christian Kabasele 29 Etienne Capoue 30 Costel Pantilimon 31 Tommie Hoban 33 Stefano Okaka 35 Daniel Bachmann 37 Roberto Pereyra
At one time you could get some indication of who was likely to be a first team regular by the numbers. These days players seem to want what they think are lucky numbers for them.
http://www.90min.com/posts/5346184-...iga-giants-eye-neymar-replacement?a_aid=40398 At first glance, not a lot to do with Watford - but then, if this comes off, we won't be facing Coutinho for the first match of the season.
