    I think it would be a brave move to include Deeney - but if he wanted the job permanently then perhaps it would be a way of setting out his stall (assuming he rates Deeney)

    They would have to play to Deeney's strengths. I always felt for Luther when England carried on playing the same 'England Way', ignoring that they need to play to the striker how the striker wants to be played. <doh>
    I don't think the FA or Southgate are smart enough yet to realise this.

    The same applied to AC Milan when they signed him. I really thought that the Italians would have more nous & try to work to his strengths.

    In the end it was fortunate for us that they didn't I suppose...

    Mind you Glen Johnson has been picked - I mean where has that come from!

    Also the striking options are hardly in form - seem to pinning our hopes on Rashford for the future in that department (decent player yes but still very young/raw)

    Crazy. Misfiring United players and others not in form. Typical FA. Southgate's picked with an eye on FA approval, which he'll probably get.

    Was Blissett not the League top scorer? This was racist BS from the red-tops, I believe. A la "they all look the same"/"what an easy mistake to make". They wanted Blissett but couldn't change their way to get the best out of him. Their loss. We bought him back for a little over half what we paid for him and he scored more goals for us.

    Walter seems to be criticising his defensive work - well the defenders themselves haven't exactly excelled in that department either so maybe harsh?
