England Under 19s player of the Year...at 17. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BCNLFbDCMAAO_wq.jpg Well done to him!
This would be another nail in the moaners coffin. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...co-Zola-hopes-to-sign-Matej-Vydra-permanently
Whichelow has had his contract cancelled - good luck to him! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp.../10204337.Whichelow_cancels_Watford_contract/ A shame as he showed early promise but never really kicked on! A case of too much, too soon?
Not sure how much these awards mean, but good to get the recognition I suppose. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10205305.Abdi_in_Team_of_the_Week/
You can't have it both ways NZ - Tommy Smith may be a Kiwi now, but was born in England & 'learned his trade' there at Ipswich. Phar Lap was born (or should that be 'foaled'?) in New Zealand, but was trained & learned how to race in Australia. Which one do you want to claim? As to The Great Pavlova Debate - IMO it's neither Australia nor NZ where it was created, it was England. The official 'verdict' gave it to NZ based on the recipe first appearing in 1927. My father-in-law was born in England in 1926 & his family emigrated to Oz soon after. His mother had her own hand-written recipe book which she took with her - in which she had a recipe for pavlova dated 1926, just after his birth.
Of course you are correct but it is required by law in NZ that, to maintain my NZ nationality, I have to claim these things whenever I am in contact with an Australian. It should be noted that NZers never claim Russell Crowe or Joh Bjelke-Petersen, though both were born in NZ!
Aaargghh - Joh Bjelke-Petersen, Corruption Personified. I thought I had escaped ever hearing that name again. Although to be fair, for all his faults, he was instrumental in ridding Australia of the Accursed Gough Whitlam - so he wasn't all bad. Just 99%.
Wait until you go up OFH, and you make Garth Crooks' team of the week. That selection is unbelievable. I've stopped trying to work out what you have to do to make his team
Don't think I can make it myself, but those who live a bit nearer might be able to. Always very good from the reports you see, but tickets go very quickly. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10206311.Popular_Watford_FC_fans_event_returns/
What about an Australian who has played international cricket for Oz, possibly against NZ, but is very likely to do so for NZ now he has completed his residency period? He may even be selected in the squad for one of the upcoming series against England.
Or the Kiwi who has represented Australia at Rugby League and New Zealand at Rugby Union - just happens to be one of my sporting heroes after his career with Brisbane Broncos and Queensland. Gawd, fancy describing a Kiwi thus!
When I entered my above comment, I didn't realise that Luke Ronchi was in the NZ XI that lost the T20 match against England.
Round up of internationals... so far; http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10209571.International_round_up__Hoban_to_return_early/ Hoban played the full 90 last night, but has been released early so he can feature Friday Pudil was only on stand-by. Vydra expected to feature. Murray and Battochio both expect to play this afternoon Chalobah only played about 25 minutes last night
