Remember how the happy eggs sponsor had that useless code you could scan on your mobile to bring up the companies website? I think it would be very cool to have a similar code on the shirt with our new sponsors that when you scan, directed you to their website where you could download a free copy of the game ( maybe just the handheld version).
That would be a great marketing strategy, Bucks... although not sure how they'd differentiate so people don't use a code twice, as assuming the code on every shirt would be the same - maybe a code on the label to be used as the password! I tend to buy the game every 2 or 3 years, although don't really put the hours into it as I used to at Uni! Maybe they will increase the Watford stats a little...
I would have thought that 2012 would appear on the shirt (and handheld on the away shirt). Maybe not the yellow text either as it doesn't really stand out.
Dnot sure they will put the 2012 on as 2013 will be out soon. I agree that they may change the colour of the text.
Miles said on twitter that the logo on the mockup isn't the one that will be used, so presumably the text colour is different. https://twitter.com/milessi/status/229992133447254017
All of the expected signings are now officially on board. More to come. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2865682,00.html What a busy day
I am sure that some will, but if you look at the other two clubs in the 'stable' they both have very large squads. If they think that is part of the scheme I think we might have a lot to choose from. Whatever the outcome, this has to be the start of something completely different to the usual make do and hope.
Excellent news about the signings Glad to see things are progressing with the rebuild of our squad, will be interesting to see who will leave though!
Those not interested in Twitter or computer games won't understand a word that I'm about to type. But I'll tell you what I find funny. Miles Jacobson has been getting stick on Twitter today, from fans asking whether Watford will suddenly be made a lot better on Football Manager 2013 due to the sponsorship. Hours later we sign four international footballers, a promotion specialist, and a guy who not so long ago was Arsenal number one (and the seventh guy is British). We all know from the Vialli era that big signings are no guarantee of real life success, but as far as the video game is concerned Watford will surely get a lot better.
It would seem that the Pozzos don't mind big squads. They also like to make profits from player sales. Therefore, I would think that the only players who will leave are ones that they don't believe will increase in value over the next few months. Of course the increase in value will have to be greater than the cost of keeping the player for a longer period. Which makes the fact that Hall and Almunia have only been given a 12 month contracts rather interesting. I assume that they are seen as interim measures whilst the team gets up to speed.
Buy a season ticket now and be entered in to a draw to win a PC/Mac copy of 'Football Manager 2012' Twenty people who sign up will be winners. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2865843,00.html That didn't take long.
I have heard some things from inside the club. Not a big secret, but Yeates is being played in midfield. I would assume that with the likes of Hogg, Abdi and Buaben he won't be first choice, but that's where he will be utilised. Another more surprising development is that Eustace is being played in defence in training. Zola wants to play passing football and so this would make sense; Eustace who by all means is a good defender who can pass the ball about will be at the back, whilst players with more pace and passing ability will be in the midfield. Would probably see Nosworthy or Hall on the bench (or Eustace?) as a result but I can definitely see it.
Je played CB against Wealdstone and it was not good!! Tiny had to keep reminding him to hold the line as he kept dropping 2-3 yards too deep and playing their fast paced striker onside.
