What's the odds that Murray goes to Cardiff before next season starts, especially if they go up? I really hope not, but MM will have a big wad of cash to spend!
I agree but if they go up could he resit a move to the Prem? How many of our star players have been sold to sub-standard Premiership teams?!
I would love to believe that but at the end of the day money talks. Agents and clubs have dirty tricks to unsettle players and make them want to leave and then you have to decide if you want to have a player at your club who doesn't really want to be there. I really hope he stays and develops here but I think we may have a fight on our hands to keep him.
It is great to be ending a season with really positive thoughts about the next year rather than in recent years hoping to survive the drop as our main thought
Do you mean the Malky Mackay who played Murray twice and bent over backwards not to mention him by name to the media? Yes, I'm sure Sean's desperate to join him. Seriously, in Murray's shoes I'd have my eye on being top scorer and player of the season next year, and Ashley's record. A few players in this division and League One have shown that you don't have to be in the Premier League to go for that sort of money.
The MM/Cardiff part was a bit tongue-in-cheek, still wouldn't surprise me though! I hope he does had the right attitude to decide for himself that this is the place to stay and progress his career. We all know what influence agents, media and other clubs can have on a player though.
If the player decides that he wants to leave on good terms, or intends to stay for longer than potential suitors can bear to wait, he and his old club have the agent and potential destination clubs over a barrel. The early signs are that Murray just might do one of those two things. At this point in time I don't think it's his intention to leave next summer, but if he has a good full season and we don't go up I think someone will wave silly money at us.
I have a thought. Perhaps Malky Mackay signed his contract with Watford either thinking he would stay, so there would be no problem, or knowing he was going he signed with the idea of getting some money for the club. So far quite honourable. What happened after that taking nearly all the back room staff and hijacking Don Cowie and his possible new contract was not a good move. Then turning John Parkin and Craig Conway's heads as well was even worse. A great sadness that the last two have not done very well this year.
