I really don't want him to be sacked, I would rather see him turn it round but results are the key to him staying. Not stats on this that or the other!

    UUUUUUUUUUUUUU' OOOOOOOOOOrrrrrrrnnnnssssss!!!!

Uh-oh, Martin Taylor out for "a number of weeks" with a collar-bone injury.

Fortunately it doesn't appear to be broken. But still, a number of weeks without him, given our current form, is less than ideal.

According to the Watford Observer, he has 9 goals in 77 appearances. That is very good for a CB!!

Thinking about creative midfielders I went on to Wiki to see what Douglas Rinaldi is up to now and the most recent entry was:

On 16 April 2010 Rinaldi left Ehime FC after only four months and returned to his native Brazil, where he currently works as a male stripper

<laugh> his ability Norway, though i don't remember complaining about his physique either lol. But...i did always wonder why he didn't get more games. He never had much of a chance. If i remember rightly, he played a handful of league games and a heap pre-season.

The bloody Premiership has done it again <grr>

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15381652.stm

How can they justify changing this, bribing the Football League into accepting it. Just means the big clubs get their youngsters a hell of a lot cheaper, and the smaller clubs have to sell more to stay afloat! Hopefulyl the youngsters will stick with their team for longer out of loyalty, but we know that is going to the the exception ratehr than the rule....

I can't believe they voted for this just to get £5m per annum - loss of sale fees will be far more than this - or am I reading it incorrectly?

That's how I read it Leo, that it is £5m across the whole 3 divisions. If that is correct, it's only about £70k each, if split evenly, which can't be right or worth it! Unless it is £5m per division, but even then it is only just over £200k a season each... and for many, the change would not be beneficial at all, but £5m a club seems a lot

I would love to have seen them stand up to them and say no!

    A little more here;

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...ontroversial-overhaul-academies?newsfeed=true

Including saying top-tier teams are exempt from the 90-minute rule, which means they can now pick up any U16s from all over the country. The big teams will now just flood their own Academies with these youngsters for pittance, and discard dozens of players they feel won't make the grade. You hope the kids will realise lower league is where to get the education. it's tough enough to compete with the North london clubs for the youngsters, but now the whole country.... <grr>

22 said no, 3 didn't turn up and one abstained. I would guess that makes up most of the Championship and a couple of League 1 sides - maybe someone like MK Dons who have just sold some players they wouldn't have got anywhere near the same for!

You'd like to think baz said no, but would certainly be a good question at the forum!

There is always the cruel response. No.

Premiership club A makes approch to league club B for player C, with the obligatory tapping up beforehand.
B advises C out of their duty of care, but refuse the advance of A.
C all big headed with the agents whispers throws his toys out of the playpen and demands a move.
B allows him to play on but if he shows disloyaty he is on permanent boot cleaning duty with no football until his contract expires.

Watford said No to this. Apparently the clubs with a history of bringing through youngsters to the team said no. The clubs who didn't said yes, for the extra funding

So the same principle as with the 7 subs rule. Those who cant have it beat those who have! Why should those teams who have spent good money on a youth structure loose out because there are some who refuse to do so.

Unfortunately, you kind of can't blame for smaller clubs for doing this one.... they have been pretty much bribed by the PL in doing it - accept or lose all funding. This money means a lot to the smaller clubs. I'm more angry with the PL for taking this stance, and the FL for not fighting it enough - surely they can have replaced this funding themselves from somewhere?
