Let me clear this up once and for all. "inho" is a Brasilian Portuguese diminutive suffix, the opposite would be "ão" The best example was the three Brasilian footballers Ronaldinho, being the latest buck toothed footballer Ronaldo, who was the world beating phenomenon from the Japan/Korea World Cup Ronaldão, and earlier version of Ronaldo As a new player emerges he may be called "inho" to differentiate from an older player, or just because he is you. The difficulty comes with a plater like Tostão, which is a small coin. The equivalent Spanish diminutive would be "ito" So little Charles would be Carlito, little Anthony would be Tonito. The equivalent Portuguese would be Carlinho and Toninho. Before you start picking holes I am married to a Brasileira, my grandfather has been in Brasil since 1950 and my wife's family are of Gallego extraction, or Galicians from north west Spain. To get the "nh" sound in spanish you would use "ñ" and in english the sound would be "ny", the only common word I can think of as an example is canhão, cañón and canyon. As to "inio", is it an anglicization of "inho"? I don't know, but leave Lloydinio be he's only young.
Please Brag, Monday is language class for me, although as we have a public holiday tomorrow there isn't one. How was Fairport? Tucked away in a box somewhere I have a couple of hours of their Oxon. show.
This lloks a fun thread http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/72948-The-Sack-Race Cropredy notes will be in the Nest.
Those who went to the Vic yesterday reported that the pitch had been narrowed. I always had the feeling that with the wider one it prevented teams doing a Derby and packing their defence. If you have decent wingers it should create space by pulling defenders away from the penalty area, giving strikers a better chance of finding space. Did this make a difference, or don't we have the wingers anymore?
we have wingers M Frenchie, last season we didn't go wide much, but i think this season we'll go wider... i think i must be tired, that was a rubbish sentence lol
Thanks for that Brag. I find languages really interesting. I've tried to pick up a few phrases of Portuguese as I've been on holiday there a few times, but I find it's a very difficult language to learn.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Sean pacing the width of the pitch at away grounds? Usually if you want to defensive you narrow the pitch and pack the midfield! Hope this isnt what SD is doing!
I have watched the highlights now, 3 mins out of 97 and came to the conclusions that on another day......... Oh well, it is what keeps us guessing.
Still a lot of room for improvement ,a couple of weeks back I said I was hoping we wouldnt need loanees !!! I think we do , as it stands we still need to strengthen the squad with a bit of prem quality! SAF please assist!
How have you got time to watch the highlights, shouldn't you be peeling spuds for your frittes tomorrow?
