Was my Watford 3-0 defeat prediction unique, Cologne? I'm still a bit dim when it comes to working out what score I get
No I'm afraid Brian got it right there. Lawro also predicted a 3-0 defeat - so you can be happy at stopping him getting a unique score.
I have just unwillingly updated the league table to include Lawro's 25 points for Stoke v Man. City, a result which was so very predictable it was unbelievable. A result which I am sure many of us would have got. Unfortunately Marl Lawrenson is not tipping exactly the same matches as we are, and so does not have to grapple with predicting Norwich or Udinese results - but rather gets Monday night fixtures (or Friday) which normally involve one of the bigger clubs.
Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table Here is the latest league table. The first question will probably be 'Where is he then'? Unfortunately things have got a little daft with us and Lawro tipping completely different fixtures - whereas he was travelling well known ground with 3 all premiership cup ties, we were grappling away with trying to assess form in the Nationwide League, SPL and the Championship. This has happened on a regular basis, with me avoiding Friday night and Monday fixtures and throwing in substitute fixtures. My feeling is that spread out over a whole season this leads to an unrealistic result. I want everyone in the league on an even footing and so I have withdrawn Lawro from it - he never knew he was there anyway (I think). I will continue to note down his totals extra to our league, so that people can compare if they like. I will edit as soon as the Leicester v Chelsea cup tie is over - he has 91 points already for this round, but, as I said earlier, from completely different fixtures. I would like feedback on this - if there is an outcry, then I can bring him back into the league table ( I would have withdrawn him from the final table anyway. Elsewhere the highest scorer was Zen, with 122 aided by the joker on Huddersfield v Palace. Congrats also to Charlie for using local knowledge to get Boreham Wood exactly right. There will be no WPL. next weekend because of the international fixtures. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table Many apologies for the lateness of the table this week. Easter Sunday was very busy, with a housefull and I didn't have time away from cooking and entertaining 5 kids. Better late than never. A very high scoring week in which it was possible to score in the 80s yet still drop in the table. Pride of place went to Fez with the highest score of 158, but there were 6 others who topped the hundred mark, with 3 of those being in the top 6 anyway. Mark still leads with Theo moving up into second. Needless to say a few of us, myself included, managed to buck the trend of high scoring. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table Some low scores around this week. With only one home team winning it turned out very difficult for many of us. Highest score amongst us was 73 by Canary Dave, moving him up into 4th place. Mark still leads - by 75 points with 5 rounds left, and we have a tie for second at the moment, between Theo and Seb. My decision to remove Lawro from our table turned out to be validated this week - his score would have been 126, thanks to picking up 90 points on Watford v Burnley - yes, he actually tipped 1-2 Unfortunately, tipping on Watford to lose can very easily pick up unique bonus points because most of us tip optimistically on the Horns. With 5 rounds left it still looks more open than in previous years, so everything still to play for. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table This is what the table looks like with only 4 rounds left. An impressive score by Theo leaves him only 12 points behind Mark in second. Seb is also still well in the hunt. Highest score of the day was by Akureyrar, with an impressive 153, aided by being the only one to tip the Baggies win at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Charlie and Andy also topped the hundred mark on a high scoring day. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table Just 3 rounds left now and it's all still fairly open, with less than a hundred points separating the top 4 places. Mark still in poll position with Theo only 15 behind in second. Highest scorer of the round was NZHorn with 112, elsewhere it was a moderate week for scoring. I will edit this a little later with a score for Mark Lawrenson - he actually tipped some separate matches to ours. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table A thousand apologies for the lateness of the table this time. We have just arrived back from a long weekend in Berlin, where Mrs. Cologne has family. Better late than never. With only 2 rounds left Mark has extended his lead a little over Theo, but still only 25 points separating them, with Seb also still in the hunt. Dave had the highest score of the round which takes him up into 4th. A special mention for Barry who managed the joint second highest score based on only tipping 4 matches. Outside of our table lawro also did well with 98. Although he is placed outside of the table his tips can still cancel out possible unique scores elsewhere. I have applied this rule before and so have to keep a constant register until the end. Needless to say he tipped Spurs to win 2-0 which prevented Dave from getting the unique bonus on that - sorry Dave, but I've done this to others as well, including myself. Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table It has all narrowed a little at the top as a result of those in 3rd, 4th and 5th all getting the Watford scoreline correct. Mark still leads with a 21 point gap over Seb, and 22 over Theo. Only 49 points separating 1st and 4th place. I can't remember it ever being so close coming up to the last round - one match could decide it. Highest score of the round was my own, of 101. Which way is it going to go next week - will the Horns finally get an away goal ? Will Manure have their minds on Wembley ? Will Raphael Benitez do Liverpool a favour by taking something off Chelsea ? Or will Liverpool have to do it all themselves to secure 4th spot ? Which clubs are on the beach already ? Watford Predictions League 2017/18 Final League Table Here is the final league table. It all went up to the final week and was, in the end, decided by one match - unfortunately by the extent of a Watford defeat. Commisserations to Mark for having led for so long but being pipped at the post. Our winner for 2017/18 is: Hornethologist Congratulations Theo In second place, for the second year running was: Seb Prödl64 In third place was our resident Canary: Canary Dave The remaining Champions League place went to Markthehorn, and Andy and myself had to settle for Europa League places. Many thanks to everyone for taking part.
