Thanks Cologne 2 weeks in the top 3 a record for me, actually last weeks 1 week in the top 3 was a record.
Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table News of the week is that Charlie has taken over at the top with an impressive score of 87. Our new boy Mark (Lawro that is) is starting to feel the pace, though he has a game in hand tomorrow night. I will update his score if necessary, though it won't influence the standings at the top. Elsewhere Andy is being less than family minded and has pulled ahead of his kids who managed to finish up level with each other (again). Yorkie has pulled up well, but the biggest riser of the round was Mark (our Mark) with the highest score of 99. Meanwhile I am doing a great impersonation of Crystal Palace. I have subsequently added 3 points to Mark Lawrenson's score - he tipped 2-1 for West Ham v Huddersfield (2-0), so he has now closed the gap on Brian to 70 points. Thanks Cologne, signing in from a sunny Cyprus. Only one decent prediction, the 'Orns, watched it live out here and got worried we were going to score more (I actually wouldn't have minded). Once again thanks for running the league.
Watford Predictions League 2017/18 League Table A couple of wobbles at the top this week allowed the chasing pack to close the gap a little, particularly Yorkie who made hay with a whopping 116. After a bit of beginner's luck Mark (Lawro that is) is now sliding slowly down the table. Second highest score of the day was by NZHorn with 105, jumping up into 6th. Seb takes the family honours this week jumping above his dad. Markthehorn is also continuing his climb into 7th. Bad week in many ways but my 5yo grandson wants to go again after that so its not all bad . thanks for all you time Cologne
An atrocious set of predictions. Luck to still be in the top 10 let alone top 2. Thanks again Cologne for all your hard work.
I predict the world will end tomorrow and, given my current predicting ability, you are all safer than you've ever been. However, if by some unlikely chance I am right, no-one will be around for me to say "I told you so" or to elevate me to the top of the When Will the World End Prediction League.
An interesting take on 'betting' I met someone recently who had done jury service. She felt the accused was probably guilty. She asked her brother who happens to be a professor of law (in London) how to make up her mind. He said 'would you put money on him being guilty. She said Yes. He said 'Would you put ALL your money on him being guilty. She said 'Perhaps not'. He said ' you have to say not guilty' because of 'beyond reasonable doubt'. I know completely irrelevant here, but hope someone finds it interesting.
So, the logic of that is: Would you put some money on Man. City to win at home to Palace - Yes Would you put all your money on Man. City to win at home to Palace - Not really, they could hit the crossbar 20 times. So, through not being 'beyond reasonable doubt' you have to, logically, tip Palace to win.
He's a professor of law, I'm not; but it seems to me his test determines 'beyond doubt', not 'beyond reasonable doubt'.
I've been the victim of violent crime and watched a jury acquit the assailants. They had been identified in a line up; witnesses and myself had been threatened in the run up to court; the defendants had been caught in lies in giving testimony, significant lies. I don't believe that the jury, nor the judge for that matter thinking of his summing up, had a sorry **** of a clue as to what constitutes "reasonable" doubt.
