Dan, some of these names are too early. The report says the Academy has been going since 1998. David James made his debut in 1990-1 and Gary Porter in 1983-4!

    Yeah we did.

Didn't we get Diagouraga and Bouazza off French teams?? (i.e like we did with Avinel)

I think so yeah. Jonathan North and Bo Antal (or whatever his name is) never played for the first team I dont think.

I have to say, it is hard to remember that Michael Bryan's still at the club.

i feel sorry for him..he's come back the last two seasons from being on loan, and he still isn't up to it...i can't see him staying past the summer..i'm honestly not sure why he's still ours tbh although when i first saw him, in a pre season game, he was mightily impressive..i wonder what's happened..

I have actually seen Micheal Bryan stand next to Martin Taylor, and let me tell you, if you were not a football fan then you would have thought that it was Martin's son :emoticon-0136-giggl

I see that he has spent the majority of his time at Bradford on the bench. If he cant get into a League 2 sides starting 11 then he really doesn't have a cat in hells chance of becoming a league 1 regular let alone a Championship player. Shame, as I was at Pompey last season and watched him take Carl Dickinson to the cleaners picking up 2 assists in 45mins of football.

I genuinely think that the best thing Michael Bryan can do is to move to Holland and attend trials for second or third tier Dutch clubs. Every league in England is physical, intense with 90% of players having very high endurance levels and robustness. A little lad like him with zero upper body strengh will just get over looked by most managers in England. In a less physical league where players technical attributes are more appreciated would be better for him IMO. He's got a fantastic cross on him and he is a fairly ' tricky ' type of winger, it's just the other parts of his game that really let him down. Infact that second half at Pompey last season summed it all up IMO, gets 2 assists by putting in good crosses and corners, but is then at fault for Pompey's winning goal by getting easily pushed off the ball. It must be really frustrating for the lad, and to make matters worse (from his point of view) Sean Murray has been excellent in his position (Right Midfield). He could also try and join a Scottish Div 1 club I guess, maybe ask Forsyth for a bit of advice?? We are always hearing from players like Cowie & McGinn that Scottish football is less physical than English football.

And all of the above could apply to Piero Mingoia as well unfortunately. Most managers wont play an attacking midfielder who is slow and small.

i think Piero Mingoia copes better and is more physical. You're right, Bryan is very easily blown off the ball..but Mingoia is stoic, and can win and keep the ball, i hear he did well in his loan spell, the trouble is, his kind of football doesn't necessarily suit SD's way of playing. He's not a hoof ball player, like Bryan, he has technical ability...so i doubt he'll get a game at the mo..which will frustrate him. i can see him going elsewhere in the summer...

Bouazza and Diagouraga were brought in to the Academy. We used to have a scout in France (a guy called Ousmane Fall) who would scout youth teams in France and set up trialist matches for players he think we might be interested in. We would then send a few our guys over to watch the match and offer trials to whoever caught the eye
