As to God, who knows, but the book of revelation is an escape manual, and the lead rescuer is an entity far more powerful than us, yet dwells on the same physical plane. Heaven is a huge biodome, which is also segregated depending on race/religious denomination

I would never denegrate anyone's personal faith, but my own experience in life has led me to believe that it is highly unlikely that there is a supreme being that created and has mastery of us all but I cannot know that to be 100% the case of course.

I guess none of it is ever going to be 100% watertight, but the scientific principle stands that the theories that are tested in order to be disproved and still hold weight are good examples of understanding the world around us in a way that we can have common agreement upon.

I went the other way. Never really believed in anything but then looked and found it can't be any other way.

It's a good discussion to have, imo, as long as it is sensible and like you say not degenrating what another believes

In the case of darwinian evolution I don't think that has happened. Despite academics disagreeing with a lot today than before

I think Darwin himself was an honest man and wrote what he genuinely believed BUT he also wrote about his failings and future disprovals (chapter 6 iirc) but no one highlights those

It's interesting that even Dawkins will publicly say one thing but has written books where he says the opposite.

I'm no fan of Dawkins as he's pretty blinkered with his absolute belief in atheism. Personally I think his branch of evolutionary science shouldn't attempt to try and explain away God, it's not in his scientific remit to do so.

Add to that he comes across as a bit of a pompous prick too.

That said, there's a funny video of him reading out some of the hate mail directed at him, I'll see if I can dig it out.

I'll bring out all kinds of reasoned debate. This board is brilliant at that.

I know mate. Maybe the civilisations living on Mars don't want us to see the Blood moon eclipse in case it inspires us to want to live on the red planet and take over their homeland. So they've probably made it cloudy on purpose to put us off.

I can see Mars from my window funnily enough. Looking rather bright tonight. And close to the moon.

Martians must have moved it closer to the moon to get a better look at the eclipse :)
