Quarantine mate, only get to face time the rest of the family sadly. The cats bring a twat now, he’s decided to sit right at the bottom of the ladder while I try to get to the gutters.

What are you playing Phil? How much did you pay for the 3700? And what motherboard/price did you settle on? I'll be upgrading my system soon-ish and would love a Ryzen 9 (poxy Intel) but I think it's probably overkill for that much money.

Our universe is one big computer game, a bit like the Sims. The superior controller being has decided to spice things up by clicking on 'insert killer virus/pandemic'. <yikes>

I did laugh earlier when I saw that but couldn’t be bothered to change it. Then again with the amount of makeup my daughter uses, the pressure washer is needed to remove it. :)

I looked at Ryzen 9, but it was overkill, settled on Ryzen 7 3700X, though the 7 2700X came very close, the system I built myself, went with MSI B450M MORTAR TITANIUM board, though I nearly went with the ASUS Prime B450M-A Micro ATX, that I purchased for a build I did for my youngest son who is in UNI, I am using an AMD 5700XT GPU, I paid £269 for the Ryzen 7 3700X CPU and cooler (RGB), the case is an Antec DP301M Micro-Tower Black, I have moved on from building full tower ATX systems, much prefer the compact size of Micro ATX, always use Cosair PSU (Modular), as for games, got most of the popular ones, I'm on Battlefront II at the minute..<laugh>.........Call of Duty2 is up next, just also downloaded from steam Halo: The Master Chief Collection..............<ok>

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sticking with my (huge!) Antec tower and everything else I don't need to change. Currently have an i7 4790k which is good enough for everything I do at the moment but I'm sick of the Intel vulnerabilities and it's an excuse to upgrade  Not bothered about a premium MB, just something decent. Have to juggle the overall cost. What's the cooler like on the 3700? Unfortunately I'll have to ditch my current water cooler (obviously). I strive for silent running!

So how are you managing to play those games on Linux? <whistle> Don't say Proton, that's cheating! I'm currently finishing Black Mesa.

Got Black Mesa on my Steam wish list, noticed it's down to £14.99, I do have Steam on Ubuntu, but for serious gaming Windows is the only platform. As for cooling, the AMD heat sink and fan are fine, I have not overclocked the MSI motherboard, It was reviewed as one of the coolest running in tests, so maybe that helps. I have looked into water cooling, but I am not comfortable with water and radiators anywhere near electronics...............<laugh>
