Not a fantastic game by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't help thinking how far behind we are both of these teams. In my personal opinion, as it stands with the squad currently we are a bottom half championship team.

Anyone who thinks we will get into the playoffs next year without spending some serious money is frankly deluded.

The money is there, let's stop kidding ourselves, It needs to be spent to have any realistic chance next year.

Newcastle, Villa and Norwich to contend with next year as well, I'm not optomistic.

What money? Why on earth would Fernandes and Mittal put in any more when £250m has left them worse off than when they started? And when they still may have an FFP fine to pay. Of course if they are reluctant to dip into their own pockets for this we'll be out with the collecting buckets again.

I'm sure an educated man like yourself knows the answer to that.

But just to reaffirm my point, sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate. 180 million for promoted teams this year, for a club that's supposedly skint that's not an amount to be sniffed at.

Being financially prudent or, in our case, being skin flints, we aren't going anywhere fast with that approach and the finances will only get worse as a result of lingering in the championship.

What would you rather?

I thought we'd speculated a quarter of a billion pounds (plus all the TV revenue from 3 seasons in the top flight) trying to accumulate the riches of the Premiership.

FFP seems to be the outcome if another big financial gamble goes wrong and a net loss seems to be the outcome if we try to buy it and succeed.

We need to improve in a sustainable way and if that means a protracted time before we can compete then it might even be more rewarding for us for any future achievement.

The Revenue stream gets less and our problems thereby greater with "protracted time". Unless our Owners are giving up they have to be making some investment in the quality players we need to have a decent chance of returning to the PL after next season.

Made me laugh when th commentator said Harry went into the dressing room at half time to talk to the players. <laugh>
Then you see him on the phone talking to an assistant, who then tells the Manager to make a sub then Hull score the 3rd? <laugh> WTF is Arry and his bent knee doing there? Is the manager simply a puppet for Arry? Will Arry be manager there next season until the old knee excuse comes out?
So pleased we don't have that muppet at our club now.

For us to get back in the top flight, we need to invest in players (not mercenaries) to do so. **** the new ground until we have been in the Prem for at least 5 years. Sustainability first.

In all seriousness I have to say that we weren't that far off the 4 sides in the play offs......

Brighton.......2-2 & 0-4....Draw was a pulsating game and unlucky not to win, lose bit of a freak result as score got worse when chasing game.....
Hull......1-2 & 1-1....Lose due to calamity Green last minute howler.....draw, Chery misses sitter at end.
Derby.....2-0 & 0-1....Good performance at home and loss in dying days of Ramsey's tenure (if memory serves me right)
Weds .....0-0 & 1-1....2 decent points.

Fine margins and all that.....

Funny every time a watch the goal i look forward to him.
Seems Arry as @@@@ed them over twice now.

Apparently Kneecap cracked a joke in the changing room recently about how it was written in the stars that they'll play Brighton in the final and OBZ will score a last minute winner again.......great for team morale......it's the way he tells 'em<laugh>

Derby should have started Butterfield and what's the point of bringing on Darren Bent in the 87th mins to make an impact. Wonder if they regret still not having a "dream" manager?

80 mins
Jacob Butterfield has Derby's first shot on target of the game, and even though it is easily dealt with by the goalkeeper, ironic cheers resound around the iPro Stadium.

63 mins
"I would bring on Jeff Hendrick and Nick Blackman for Derby.
"How Hendrick does not get into this side before Bradley Johnson and Craig Bryson, I do not know."
(Steve Claridge)

59 mins
That change comes after yet more fruitless Derby probing, as Bradley Johnson comes off for Jacob Butterfield. Will that mean a change in formation or approach for Derby?

Perhaps Darren Wassall looks so glum because Harry is calling the shots behind the scene?
Persona of a dead man walking.
