who had never managed before, had been away from the game for years, who waltzed into the North East's biggest club in the second tier, and within 2 years had them sitting with the top two in the Premiership in 1994...
My take is that Di Canio is starting to look a very good prospect as a football manager. He's taken a cash strapped, destitute Swindon to being one of the best teams in the their league. He's done this on his own, without any investment, as far as I can see. He's a firebrand character who will scare that lot sh*tless into working and defending - ie not like Obertan.
It may be too late for Sunderland with the run-in they have, but I doubt we'll get an easier game in the derby with their new boss shouting from the touchline at them, and physically kicking any Sunderland player who doesn't put a shift in ...
I could be wrong, but he looks a good appointment to me.
And sadly, Bramble won't probably be playing against us ....
