Well, no. It wasn't. Two own goals from deflections and their best 'actual' chance came from a wondrous pass that Fontaine recovered from excellently to put off Kenny Miller. And I do believe Cardiff's goalkeeper was being presented with Sky's man of the match. Or he just enjoys a bottle of bubbly after every game.

So, starting line-up was the same with the alteration of Woolford coming in. Understandable, really. He's never done well for us, and as a more experienced figure than the other options it served as a good opportunity for him to finally make a statement. All in all? He didn't make the most of it and he was subbed at the perfect time in the second half. Agree with all the subs bar the last, but even that didn't contribute to the final goal. That was an act of God - Welsh God - and not closing down quick enough. Though that can sort of be forgiven for the amount of effort put in the entire game.

Derek's gonna' have a hard time picking them up. When you play ****e and get thrashed it's a validation. When you play well and lose it's a kick in the balls. Perilous again. Donny have two games in hand and four points between us. Performances are one thing, points another.

McInnes started 4-4-2 and was surprised by the inclusion of Woolford who had an average game but when McInnes decided to take Woolford off and bring on Davis he sealed our defeat. It meant putting Pearson, who was our best player, out wide who looks out of place and we had Davis who had an awful game in the middle. Then... he brings Yannis on and puts Pearson at left back.

Think he should have brought Yannis on for Woolford, like for like in position but with bring on Davis he changed the style, formation and took Pearson out of the game who up to then was getting forward and taking charge in the middle of the park. Just hope McInnes learns that Pearson needs to play central.

I think he played Woolford as he has more defensive abilities than Bolasie, and with McNaughton going forward needed to protect McAlister better.
I agree with the subs but Pearson was on a yellow so needed more muscle in the centre. Bolasie not disaplined enough for this sort of game.
Don't quite know what's wrong with Albert at the moment seems to lost his way a bit so would probably keep the same line up as we started with for next game with maybe another player out left!
Foster seems to do well in midfield gives us balance.
We never deserved to lose that game, but please Mr Pearson play the whistle instead of appealing for a penalty you could of played the ball it was at your feet!

100% agree with your post,woolford should be sold,the changes that were made we're okay,woolford should have been swapped for Adomah.

Woolford was ok for the first 10 minutes and then faded badly..
IMO Cisse was our man of the match.
I thought Davis looked good when he came on.

I thought the ref was ok.....we were lucky that we didn't go down to ten men with the Pearson tackle.

I hope he sticks by his guns and picks the same team next week with the exception of Bryan starting in place of Woolford. Foster did well again and got an assist which is more than Albert ever looked like doing tonight. He needs some serious coaching on defensive work, crossing and decision making. Their second goal would never have happen if Albert wasn't poncing about up the field and had came back in support of Foster down the wing, as it was he was left 2 on 1 and they scored.

I disagree with that. We had two good chances to go ahead after Davis came on.

Adomah still seems out of sorts and until he puts in a good shift as a sub shouldn't be starting. Foster is having some good games on the right and if we want to stick with a 442, which we certainly should, that left hand side will always be a question. If Pearson is to remain central with Davis on the bench, then Joe Bryan deserves another go.

Sorry Red Robin, but you were the home side, we were the visitors. You should always adopt an attacking philosophy to drive back a visiting team who will tend to have patience. Do you normally sit back at home and let the opposition come on to you?

Being the most attacking side means nothing in this game. The away team kicks off with a point and the initial plan is not to lose it. On the back of that, you try to win the game with patience and skill - and a fair bit of luck if it comes your way as happened on Saturday.

It's called tactics and I reckon Mackay has got it right more times than wrong this season - our position in the table is testament to that. Your position with Millen and McInnes would suggest otherwise.

Of course it helps if you have a team of good players, and as you correctly say, the "rub of the green" - we had both on Saturday, and you lacked both.

I can not help but to agree with the above statement........but in DM's defence, in our position you have to try everything to get us out of this mess, it doesn't help that we didn't get the rub of the green with the two own goals.
I believe the reason DM adopted the tactics he did against Cardiff is because the amount of goals we've been letting in.

Del - human nature dictates that respective club supporters will always view a game with biased eyes - we all tend to remember the good things and ignore the bad.

Agree we weren't good on Saturday mate - distinctly average as we've been this past month, but our keeper's saves apart, I believe we were the better footballing side of the two. Your lad's enthusiasm on the pitch is not in question. In fact, we've been discussing how you lot got to the second ball far more often than us - we were very poor in our reactions to spills by either side.

Best of luck over the next ten games. If you keep playing like that, you'll win more than you'll lose. Just watch out for those own goals.

I watched the game with 3 non City fans, one Spurs fan, one Everton fan, and one Birmigham fan. All said we were the better team. And they usually like telling me how **** were are. Unbiased eyes indeed. Personally I think a draw would have been fair. Both teams had their moments and chances, neither team looked any better than the other on the day, although I conceed I would rather have your squad than ours
