I have not actually concluded anything. I said 'IF' and speculated.

I don't know what he is thinking in terms of does he want to go or not because he hasn't said. I would have thought with this level of media frenzy around this alleged offer/move that if he didn't want to think about any if it until after the World Cup, he'd say that. If he did feel that way he must be pretty pissed to see his name on the back pages every day; hardly good for him to be able to focus on the World Cup.

I haven't anywhere suggested hating him or making him a judas and won't, but as I said, I would be disappointed in him. The Mr Southampton reference was not meant to come across as me calling him that but the view of the squad, afterall that is why a they called him. You are right that my expectations of him were raised so high, but I wonder why that was... perhaps him saying he wanted to stay here for the next five years, so he has raised my expectations of him.

My only issue here Joe is that Adam hasn't indicated or said anything to quash or delay the media frenzy until after the World Cup. A simple comment, tweet, whatever saying that its World Cup now, club stuff in a month would have been the right thing to do, I believe.

Contrary to our own egos our opinions about the club don't matter but as an employee I believe Adam should do better than talk to the local hack. Go home, kick the cat, bitch to the wife about it. Talk to family, friends even Steven Gerrard if he wants.

Point scoring in the media does no one any favours

If he kicks a cat, that's when I'll start to hate him.

I can only imagine his decision to go to the media came after some deliberation, perhaps not by him but by his agent.

Guys...guys.....come on.....every thing we have heard in the main...is peoples opinions. A lot of the quotes we are seeing are opinions being quoted as facts. I am not saying that some will not be accurate but until the world cup is over, or Adam actually makes a statement, we really haven't a clue. Ok he well may well want to move on or not as the case maybe, he very well may not have handled the spot light very well. At the end of the day us turning on him can only sway him the way we would rather not see him go. He has got one hell of a decision to make if he is given the chance to make it.

Well said Beddytare...let's keep our powder dry until we truly know what the hell is going on
The press now seem to have turned their negativity onto poor old Rooney so they will leave us alone for a while!!!!

Interesting that some see Lambert as a club legend close to Le Tiss for his five years of service, but won't be ranking Lallana in the same category after being here his whole career. Bitterness at a potential move or simply because goal scorers are easily loved?

More to do with the way each player has apparently conducted himself since the season ended. I say "apparently" because we don't really know what happens behind the scenes. Pretty sure Rickie Lambert would have waited until the deal was done before publicly signing a Liverpool shirt though.

I understand your point completely but I think it's just because Lambert is an incredibly likable human being. Lallana, despite all his years of service, does not give off that same aura. This isn't me being bitter but I've just never particularly warmed to the bloke.

While I'll be very unhappy when (if?!) Lallana leaves this summer, I for one certainly wont be turning on him, and wont have any time for people that do.

This is exactly the point. Both have done great for the club but one left saying thank you, the other is leaving and trying to say '**** you'. One is leaving to finish his career with his boyhood club fully knowing he will not get many games. The other wants to leave because the club he wanted to retire at is now not good enough for him and those words were empty.

This is precisely the point. I'm currently being forced to take off the rose-tinted spectacles, and without them on I'm starting to think that our beloved captain is actually a bit of a tit. Generally speaking most footballers are, of course, but I'd think Rickie was great even if I didn't support the Saints.

If Blackmore is right, then Clattenburg may have a point. It's only last year that Adam gave the following quotes when he signed a 5 year deal which seem a long way away from what's being quoted now (if true):-

"I'm absolutely delighted," said Lallana. "To commit my future to the Club for the next five years is something I'm really happy about.

"I can't wait to work with the new management team and the lads to continue our progress in the Premier League. It was an easy decision for me with the direction the Club is going in.

"I've been at the Club since I was 12 and – being honest – I can only see my future lying with Southampton Football Club.

"If someone was to say that I'd end my career playing for Southampton in the Premier League then I'd snap your hand off for it.

"I am privileged and honoured to be given the opportunity to be here for the next five years. It's something I'm going to look to grab with both hands.

"I'm honoured to be playing for Southampton and captaining the Club at the present moment, and I just hope the next five years don't go as quickly as the previous five!

"I can't wait to get going and to continue playing for this club."

the underlined doesn't offend me so much... at that stage in his career he could not confidently predict further development or the prospect of even remaining in the premier league. it's like asking us in our first premier league season if we'd snatch your hand off to stay up in 17th, and we would.

the part I bolded is the offensive thing to me. he committed his future to the club (his own words) and now it seems he wants to weasel out of it without the club's consent, is trying to force a low transfer fee and keep his loyalty bonus.

apparently the next five years didn't go quickly enough for him after all.

My PC must be broken... I am just seeing blanks or 'empty' words.

Edit: For those that will pull me up ... IF these stories are true :)

That's the key for me. It looks like he might have a different view on the direction of the club now. These statements were made when Cortese and Poch were here.
