I dont think we will know if its the right decision until the end of the season. If Neil and Michut kick on and Ekwah adapts quickly to senior football, plus Matete gets the minutes he needs then its a huge success I like Matete and I think there's a player there, I agree with what TM said in terms of he needs to improve in possession and I think he will do that at Plymouth
Really hope we don't sell him this summer. I rate him. Hard to see where he fits in especially with Ekwah coming in. Nonetheless I really hope we keep him.
I would have kept him. Longer term development decision is probably correct but I think he will develop into a very good player
Anyone know how he's been getting on recently? I've noticed that he's only played the full 90 minutes in 1 of Plymouth's last 7 games, 3 of those games he started on the bench and against Charlton, he was an unused sub. It looks like his form has dipped since his explosive start.
Where have you seen that mate? I saw some comments from their manager on leaving him out of the team but nothing about an injury.
Watched him against Derby County when he came on as a sub and was given MoM, there is a thread about the game on Non Sunderland matches
I agree with this. It’s probably a “well I’d like to have kept him but understand why he was allowed to go on loan” kind of thing. If it’s good for him, it’s good for us
I'm not sure he's the player to cover for Corry Evans, so in that respect happy for him to be playing every week at Plymouth. Hopefully he comes back next season a better player and we sent Ekwah and maybe Bennette out on loan to L1
Matete came off the bench on 84 minutes today with Plymouth drawing 1-1 away to Morecombe. 10 minutes later, Plymouth were top of the league after a goal and assist from Matete led them to a 3-1 win.
Interesting they say he is better in short bursts from the bench. It looks like the loan was the right option for him at this stage. Hopefully he comes back better for it in the summer.
