Plus a lot of fuss about no proper pre-seaosn preparation. And he went on the back of a good result, but so far that season had been a bit of a non-starter.

No absolutely not. Nigel was a decent honourable man, Pardew wasn't.you only had to hear the Newcastle fans at the game at SMS

One thing about this that is slightly positive is that I can't imagine feeling worse than this if we get relegated. So it's almost prepared me for the worse. Doesn't help, as this feeling is one of (albeit temporary) dis-connection from the club and its direction/soul/spirit, but still... don't reckon it can feel any worse to get relegated.

The name Pardew should be banned on this forum.

Today was similar to Pardew's exit, only the firing was almost certainly more unexpected and much more deeply felt.

    Not the same for me.
Pardew was a decent manager, JPT was awesome, but he wasn't loved like nigel.

Nigel was part of our family, pardew was like your sisters boyfriend, like him well enough but no great shakes when they split up.

I felt worse about the administration. Relegation is just something that happens and you feel better about it when you turn up next season. The worst bit was being in suspense about what was coming next.

I actually thought that relegation was OK, as it was so inevitable. We were prepared for it for ages. The Premiership relegation hurt, as it ended such a long run of top flight football. We all knew it was the end of a chapter. Much as NA leaving is too.

FWIW, DE polls have 94% objecting to this decision where 87% objected to the sacking of Pardew.

A lot more people did not like AP, but were just as shocked when it happened, about the same number predicted doom and gloom for our future, boy were they wrong!

Yeah you guys could be right actually. The year we got relegated from the Premiership was really devestating to me and my family for other reasons, so I hardly took any notice of the football.

It actually really sucked when Strachen was poached for the Celtic job. And also when Hoddle left mid-season to join Spurs, the ****.

When Pards got the boot, I was shocked, but it didn't affect my support at all. I still carried on going to every home game that season.

Now, I feel completely gutted, and not really sure if I want to carry on supporting this team to be honest. I'm sure I will get over it as soon as we kick off but right now I hate the thought of heading to St Mary's. I properly hate hate hate Chelsea for their managerial debacles, and now it feels like the club I love has turned into a soulless corporate giant.
