I haven't seen that, but fair enough if he has. It's a bit self defeating thinking that way though. Warnock's a great guy with integrity if he leaves..but then we don't have him as a manager- or if he doesn't leave, he has no integrity, and we're stuck with him! Lose/lose situation. He's 62, probably doesn't think he'll have many shots left at the prem, feels like he's got soemthing to prove after the Shef.Utd relegation, loves QPR, his family is settled here, he's put a hell of a lot of work into building a team and getting them promoted. This is HIS QPR which he's almost single handedly built, i couldn't possibly expect him to leave all of that, and give up a premier league opportunity. Additionally id imagine he's held out hopes for a takeover all summer. Imagine if he left because of the goons, then a few weeks later they were replaced by new owners? He'd be sick as a parrot.
Can't disagree with a word you've said there Griff, just that you misunderstand what Swords is trying to say. It is lose lose, kind of. By hanging on in there, which is what most of us want, the compromises mean both his effectiveness and therefore his stock decrease. To me Swords is lamenting the damage done to Warnock and saying it would have been better for NW had he done the 'decent' thing - which for us would have been terrible.
Swords Hoopster, Yes friend! you are right!! I have been saying the same thing since last Christmas and nobody thought I was right, but time will tell!
So are we glad Warnock did the wrong thing in not leaving? To us has he done the right thing? i.e. The right thing for us was for him to do the wrong thing for himself? This is all confusing me. I agree the situation hasn't been ideal for Warnock, but i still think it was right for him to say, for every reason i gave in my previous post. He wouldn't be able to positively influence the club at all had he left- so arguably sticking round against adversity was the "decent" thing, rather than jumping ship as soon as things got hard.
Where in my quote did i say this???I couldn't give a **** how long you've been saying it. Stop being a bloody martyr for **** sake!
Warnock has the 'advantage' of seeing everything from the inside, he'll be aware of what is going on and, as others have said, is not going to walk away just before the Goons depart. He's earned his shot at the big-time and, with appropriate backing, will show whether he can cut it at the higher level. His comments are almost like a reference you give for someone you want to see the back of...
If anyone believes that the activities of Ecclestone and co this summer have been in the best interests of QPR FC they need their bumps tested. NW knows the situation better than anyone but other than one really fleeting outburst has been toeing the party line. Loads of people expected him to walk away on the grounds that the board was making his job impossible but he didn't. It could well be that Ecclestone has been telling him that all would be well once a buyer was found and he has stayed on that basis only. The only other conclusion is that he has been colluding with the owners in profiting from the club with no care for its longer term future. I hope and pray the former option is true: if Fernades arrives with fresh investment then we will probably never know or care. But if the situation is unchanged at the end of the month then Warnock should resign if he is to retain any integrity. I speculated all this before and got censured by our moderators for daring to question the motives of NW. So that's both him and us gagged then. Quite why he should have become so unquestionable in such a short space of time remains a mystery.
Maybe he knows more about the take over,if Fernandes does buy all Bernies shares and a deal can be reached with the Mittals then alls well if not and Bernie keeps control then i expect fireworks between Neil and the board
