Maybe because everyone thinks the club has bottomless pockets, they are just playing their cards close to their chests? Trying to keep the prices down for a player?

These people are businessmen, and after all their investments of last year (and they did make them) why suddenly stop trying? To let the club wither and die doesn't make business sense.

Also does Bernie really want his beloved daughters getting abused in the street by irate football fans? We've enough idiots in our support to think that they are fair game for showing our disapproval.

I'll not panic yet, but agree the current state is not good

Your point about irate fans is well made, Tooting. There are extreme elements in all clubs. I certainly hope that the Miss Ecclestone's aren't targeted as you suggest might happen, but if a few rotten tomatoes were thrown at Bernie's Rolls Royce, he wouldn't get sympathy from me

The point about them possibly just being super cagey is hard to justify. Professional sport does not exist without public interest and enthusiasm and every action at present seems intended to alienate and disallusion the fan base. They surely know that such bad PR is not going to improve their asset. They are simply just looking to sell and are treading a fine line between diminishing their asset through non investment and maximising the profit they hope to gain through the sale. They need to watch that curve very carefully or we will be stuck with each other.

The point is... They DID spend last season when we were a below average mid-table Champ club and the HAVE spent quite big for a Champ club over the last 5 years or so, so why the **** aren't they doiung it now to safeguard our Prem status??

    Either:
They're a couple of twats who don't know what they're doing.
    or
They're a couple of twats looking to get back their investment before selling the club.

The thing is, The very public admission that we are only going for free transfers will tell every player we go for that we have no real ambition to stay in the premier league and they are in for a season of real struggle!

QPR's manager, Neil Warnock, admits he is unlikely to be given any cash from the potential sale of Adel Taarabt to sign new recruits.

The 22-year-old playmaker was a key figure in the Hoops' Championship triumph last season and picked up the Football League Player of the Year award. His stock has risen markedly as a consequence and has led to speculation linking him with a host of clubs. Paris Saint-Germain look the most likely to land the Moroccan but Warnock is hoping any potential deal falls through.

"Flavio Briatore is dealing with all the transfers at the moment. He's dealing with PSG and Adel himself," Warnock told Sky Sports News. "I've just got to wait until he tells me one way or another. It would be nice to get it done because we've got to look and plan ahead.

"If he is going to leave us the day before the season starts we're going to be right in the cart, so we've got to get it done. Adel wins games for you. He would set the Premier League on fire.

"I am hoping things break down, if I'm honest, but I think if they come up with the money then I am sure he will be on his bike. There is nobody like Adel Taarabt but you've just got to move on.

"It's hard work to get players in anyhow. I don't think I'll be getting any of the money, I think we have just got to look for Bosmans and look for shrewd acquisitions, loan players etc. Try and do it on the smallest transfer fee outlay there's ever been. We'll be trying to survive on that and that will be another achievement."

Puts me in mind of the 'kindly' slave-owner who bought a family, providing them with food, shelter and reasonable working conditions. Ended up with the 'master' serially raping the slave's wife.

Moral: how far does gratitude go when it involves abuse?

    Good analogy, Brix.

Basically, the Goons bought in the Mittals. When Flavio made a pig's ear of things, the Mittals brought in NW, worked closely with him, NW got the best from his players, the players gave their all,and despite management transgressions over the Faurlin purchase, we are promoted...

And the Goons take all the benefits. Yes, the slave owner analogy is pretty apt because slave owners did f*ck all for the wealth too...

Also, at the start of the season we couldn't move for ITKs on here - where are they now? All on holiday together in Magaluf?

All this business about selling the club you here different stories people are saying the reason they are selling the club is because of this and that nobody knows whats happening i think we all look for that excuse for a reason for them to sell the club ,but really we are just living in hope.

QPR captain Adel Taarabt admits he could yet ply his trade for the R's next season if a move to Paris Saint-Germain does not come to fruition.
The 22-year-old has been the subject of rife speculation this summer after shining during QPR’s promotion from the npower Championship last season.
Numerous clubs across Europe have been mooted as a potential destination for Taarabt, with PSG looking the most likely to land his signature.

A-delight: Taarabt was the outstanding talent in the Championship as QPR won promotion
The Morocco international admits talks are ongoing with the Ligue 1 club but says he may yet stay in west London.
'We're talking with Paris Saint-Germain, but nothing is done,' he said. 'We're very close, but if no deal is reached then I will play for QPR in the Premier League.'
News that Taarabt could remain at Loftus Road will be a welcome boost for manager Neil Warnock, who has admitted he is unlikely to be given any cash from the potential sale.

Money worries: Neil Warnock is concerned by the finances available to him this summer
'Flavio Briatore is dealing with all the transfers at the moment. He’s dealing with PSG and Adel himself,' he told Sky Sports News. 'I’ve just got to wait until he tells me one way or another. It would be nice to get it done because we’ve got to look and plan ahead.
'If he is going to leave us the day before the season starts we’re going to be right in the cart so we’ve got to get it done. Adel wins games for you. He would set the Premier League on fire.
'I am hoping things break down if I’m honest, but I think if they come up with the money then I am sure he will be on his bike.
'There is nobody like Adel Taarabt but you’ve just got to move on. It’s hard work to get players in anyhow. I don’t think I’ll be getting any of the money, I think we have just got to look for Bosmans and look for shrewd acquisitions, loan players etc.
'Try and do it on the smallest transfer fee outlet there’s ever been. We’ll be trying to survive on that and that will be another achievement.'
Meanwhile, QPR have agreed a deal in principle that will see Max Ehmer joined Yeovil on a six-month youth loan.
The 19-year-old recently penned a contract extension at Loftus Road until 2013 and is expected to secure a return to Somerset on Monday.
Ehmer made 27 appearances for Yeovil in npower League One last season during a similar spell.
