He didn't relegate them! From what I recall he did a good job with limited resources both places. But it's hardly worth debating old history at other Clubs. He had amazing success with us until we got into the PL. It iis impossible to say if he was a success or a failure in the PL with us - he didn't get the chance to prove that one way or the other. But he was on target.
That's a bit harsh, again. Sir Alex started in Scotland. He'd had a few years there and then went to Manure. NW didn't fail at all. We haven't gone down. We're still there. He got pulled out before he could try something. He had his targets, and so do the Board (obviously) but the Board got clanged upside the head with the Super Agent's psycho-babble and here we are. So now MH has got a 2.5 year contract - so what? Really. If we barely stay above relegation at the end of this season, would that be success to TF and the Board? Or does TF think we could be in the top 5 so we can make it to Europe by the end of season. They why doesn't he SAY so, that's what he wants? Just tell it to the world. Tell us the goal. Don't give us this psycho-babble about how we're "building." We all know he wants to win trophies and IMMEDIATELY. But if that's the case, throw money at it, bring in the big names. Do it. Then even NW would be quiet, he'll see the players coming in that he didn't know that the Board wanted, then NW and his fans (like me) will see that some big stuff really was in place, was being cooked up - but we're not seeing it, are we? We're bringing in fringe players. We're looking at some players that MH has had some experience fielding (because that's all he knows, he has no imagination, that's why his name is Sparky). THAT's making moves? THAT's taking a chance? I don't see it.
He did relegate them, thats a fact, he took Notts Co and Sheff down in the both times he tried. Are you denying Sheff Utd went down and he then blamed Tevez for it when they needed something like 1 point from the final 3 games and lost them all?
Im sure Warnock used ProZone - he had a member of the backroom staff specifically working for the club with that technology. I remember after a game once he mentioned it and used some of the data in his post match press conference to shoot down a journo's quesiton.
And didn't West ham subsequently pay Sheffield United Millions of pounds in recognition of the fact that they'd cheated their way to staying up at Sheffield United's expense?
Some people are mistaking a manager fir a coach! They are two different things. some managers do coach and Hughes is in that category. others like Neil tell his coaches what he wants them to coach and this can sometimes get lost in translation. take my word for it lads, I've been on seminars with all sorts of pro managers!
Still doesnt change the fact that 1 point from 3 games would have kept them up anyway by according to their fans, NW went defensive and lost every game.
