You quoted me as having said, "he doesnt get to many games so his opinion is not valid".

At no stage did I say "your opinion is not valid".

You have put 2 + 2 together and got 5.

    I await your apology.

    There's your quote.

    Justify it or apologise.

You've got the wrong end of the stick, that's not a direct quote. I don't know what authors/writers call it but its not a quote from you or anyone else.

You're trying to tie me up on specifics here. Its clear that I wasn't directly quoting you. Rather I was identifying what your intention was.

    No Swords.

You are clearly the one with the wong end of the stick.

    What I said is clear.

You took it up wrong and then to try to prove your point, you deliberately quoted me as saying something I never said.

    You made a direct quote.

Have the balls to admit it and apologise.

I will not have you put words into my mouth which I didnt say.

Bullsh*t man. Either you've genuinely picked it up wrong or you're on the wind up.

I preceded that statement with "that old chestnut" which implies that its been said over and over again and clearly not a direct quote. The inverted commas must have thrown you off but as you can see, I've used them in the last sentence but I'm not quoting you there either!

Could anyone else please adjudicate on this matter?

You are a **** stirrer of the highest order Swords.

Deliberately mis-quoting people is not on as far as I am concerned.

Then you can't apologise when you have been caught red handed.

    Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.

I'm sorry but I think you're out of order here.

Can anyone please read the passage concerned and tell me whether or not they think I was directly quoting someone?

    I'm out of order?

Your ranting post of earlier deliberately mis-quoting me based on your misunderstanding of what I said was totally out of order.

I don't see anybody jumping to your assistance.

Nor yours I hasten to point out.

If you want to think I was quoting you then fine. But I wasn't. Maybe I shouldn't have used the inverted commas because they have confused you.

    P.S.

    I didn't ask for adjudication.

I'm not the one that has been caught out misquoting people.

I WASN'T QUOTING YOU FOR GOD'S SAKE! Read it again and see if you still think I was directly quoting you.

I defy you to come back on here and honestly think I was quoting you.

    errrr

It is normal practice in the use of the English launguage to insert commas when attributing a direct quote to someone. Unquote.

You even used your "quote", a second time further down in your rant about nothing.

"To say it invalidates your opinion" - your re-iterated for a second time your understanding that I believed your opinion was invalid.

Nail on head, at last. That's exactly what I was doing: giving my opinion on where you're coming from - not directly quoting you.

Its also common practice to place "in inverted commas" something which as been rehashed over and over again in order for the reader to understand the line that is being taken.

Your understanding was expressed after you directly quoted me.

    Swords..
only read the main of this ridiculous post, but, kiwi posted not long ago, an article showing how incredibly bad an attending fans view is at a match. Add to that the getting caught up in the moment, heat of the battle, crowd mentality and I'd say that our view and opinion of the game has more validity than those who attend...ALA Shearer, and every other footy commentator..

Of course,,everyone at the game has a view more valid than Jamie Redknapp, Shearer, Hanson..or the long list of ex-pro's who watch from afar..

stupid argument been put to bed i thought !!

I'll await silly eplies from peopke who spend thier hard earned and think they matter..

FYI..i was a long time ST holder but never deluded.

Here's a thought for you all...

If your position in the crowd is so much better than a sky camers...why dont they just put a camera above your head and see the game as you do...?..
answer..because you do not see it all...discuss (until you get bored!)
