My gratitude to everyone who responded to my dilemma. It is allgood advice. I have decided to try an appeal as a first option (probs should have done this in the first place before bothering you all). I learned long ago that this place isn’t just about a football team: it is about the supporters of that team and the way they respond to help each other. I’ll post when I get resolution.
I’ve just emailed my appeal and have attached a photo of the bottom half of my receipt. Can’t find the itemised part. Typical!

    Don't pay it yet mate.

Take these people's advice, I always dispute anything like this and never pay. It takes a bit of nerve but I always tell them to take me to court and, in the meantime, cease all correspondence ...

... and that's where it ends.

It's not the King's Highway so you're not committing an offence.

Also a subject access request and FOI really pisses them off. The time it takes them isn't worth the aggro.

In a FOI, ask them how many other fines were given over a period of time, logs of when their cameras were checked, how they know the date and times were accurate, how many other people have appealed (successfully and not) etc. Can be quite good fun.

Have you tried popping into store and talking to the store manager? Sometimes they can overturn them.

I got one in Sainsburys when I was legitimately parked for work but my car hadn't registered on their staff system for some reason. The store manager was able to remove the fine for me.

    @Oldsandy

The advice I got back from the gents on the other forum was to appeal, with Home Bargain again and then if that failed to go to parking eye.

Saying that they have breached the Equality Act 2010 and MUST allow more time for those who need it. Stating your age and the fact you don't get around as quick anymore, they did say send evidence of that but personally I'd say it and not send anything but if they reject it to ask your GP if they can knock up a quick letter?

They also said send your receipt as anything over £30 spent in the shop usually gets the things cancelled.

I can see from your posts you have already appealed with them. Let us know how you get on. Don't be surprised or put off if they reject your first appeal. Take it all the way to POPLA if required I'm confident it will get cancelled.

One thing that I've thought about is that your age shouldn't matter (for others that may find themselves 'in the same boat') regarding time needed, otherwise it would be discrimination . . . . just say that you needed whatever time that it took.

One of my daughters has had a few parking fine letters from Parking Eye after parking at Asda in Coronation Street ('Sheels) and they haven't pursued after she ignored their letters . . . . presumably 'cos it's not worth their while :emoticon-0148-yes:

I appreciate all the advice and effort everyone has gone to.Its now just a case of me waiting for Parkingeye to decide on my appeal. They recon up to 28bdays. A summary of the advice I’ve been given on here seems to be to do nothing and let them worry and chase. That is what I intend to do. Thanks everyone!

It’s titled “parking charge”. I’m taking everyone’s advice and having appealed the “offence”, i am just sitting on it. I’ll update when something happens. Meanwhile, I’ve had so much encouraging advise on here that I’m no longer worrying about it.

Don't worry about it mate....you are not alone in the fight against these car parking thieves. I'm in a dispute going on over 12 months with HX Car parking, based in Huddersfield, via their solicitors,Messrs Gladstones of Warrington. They've tried to get £60 out of me at the start, now it's £160......I've told them countless times to take me to court if they think they have a winnable case.....nothing yet, only more threatening letters. I'm not paying them a penny piece,it's a scam.
I'd love to go to a court and expose their criminality.

I parked in their car park for an hour....paid £1 in cash in their machine and entered my Reg No. I came back within the hour and left.
I received a letter 28 days or so later to tell me I hadn't entered my Reg No correctly.....no dispute about the time I entered or left....their records confirmed the times, but they said my ticket hadn't been entered correctly.
As luck would have it,I'd thrown away my ticket, but into a bin in my office which doesn't get emptied very often and,it was still there. It confirmed the times, but only the last 3 digits of my Reg No. As their cameras revealed my car, with its' full Reg No,I argued that there was no dispute of non-payment,or failing to comply,it was clear it was my car, even though their machine had failed to register the full number it had been given at the time. I have since spoken to people who had the same happen to them, but had got rid of their ticket,so,paying by cash, couldn't prove anything, which is what I think these criminals are relying on....not many keep a cash paid ticket for 14 days.
Over a year later, still getting threatening letters, have told them I'm not paying, would love to go to court etc.etc. Have been in touch with the SRA to lodge a complaint against Gladstones....whose online reviews are terrible!!.....
It's a scam mate......stick by your guns....and,whatever you do,don't worry about it. It's hot air and nastiness from these people in the expectation you'll just cough up to get rid of them. If we had an effective Govt. whose primary function is to look after its' people, this kind of scam would have been squashed long ago.
The more people come to live here who don't have our values, the worse it will get,but the thick spiv bastards in Whitehall can't see it and, even if they could, too scared to do anything about it. If you need any further support with it,PM me,I'm happy to help.

Received a very polite email this morning from Parking eye informing me that MY FINE HAS BEEN CANCELLED! That is what I call a fast response. My gratitude to everyone who took the time to give me advice. The result of this experience is that I will no longer browse the aisles of Homebargains. Can’t be fussed trying to remember to keep checking my watch. From now on it’s straight to the beer aisle and then straight to checkout.
