Unfortunately the world has moved on, We are no longer rivals, I now look out for your results the same as I do with the likes of Gateshead, Hartlepool, Darlington, Scarborough, York City and Blyth Spartans, and, rather than hope you loose, find myself almost cheering on the plucky local lower league underdog and thinking how great it would be if you could make the 3rd round of the FA Cup so we could lend you our stadium to help you out financially.

See, here is the thing. You think I'm joking and taking the piss but I'm really not. You are now at the same level as the likes of Hartlepool United and Darlington and have been and quite probably will be for a long time to come with the way things look just now. You're proper rivalries are now with those clubs. That's your derby's. You're about as much of a rival to us as Middlesboro are and we never talk about them. They're just annoying ****s that nobody wanted as a rival in North Yorkshire who were so desperate to have a derby that they had to make one up due to the name of a local terrestrial tv channel.

Its like playing a pre-season friendly with Blyth Spartans. You turn up wanting the win, but by half time your hoping the manager changes everyone out to give the poor sods a chance at a touch of the ball for all their effort.

The lines have changed, and will continue to do so. Sunderland will constantly challenge the Leyton Orients and Rotherham's of this world hoping to eventually be good enough to occasionally muster a draw with the mighty Burton Albion, whilst we will begin to challenge the world's elite and get pissed off with air travel prices.

I really don't care if you're joking or not. It's hilarious either way. I have been watching football for over 50 years and seen the wheel turn many, many, times. You think you're Daenerys Targeryan and are going to break the wheel with a great big bag of Saudi cash. We'll, good luck with that, as you certainly have a chance. But I know we'll be back up there in due course whether you crack the really big time or not and that's what's important to me, not your carbon footprint...

TBF I think he over estimates the liklihood of Sunderland getting any benefits except those given out by the DWP.

You have got me wrong, see I don't see us as that. I just see you as being like Sean Bean and killed off at the very start of a storyline and not able to see it through to the end.

You're now, like I said, a team I will look out for as a plucky local underdog. Its a bit like you always were, just even more so in magnitude now. It is quite sad to a degree I did used to love the build up to the match on derby days, my old wrinkly friend.

Serious question without piss taking, when was the last time it was allowed for us both playing at home on a Saturday 15.00 kick off? Unless you're not, and BBC have ****ed up, it takes a bit extra effort to find your fixtures and table position on there these days.

No idea TBH. We're still averaging 30,000 so it's not as if policing isn't an issue. But we're 12 miles away and the teams we play bring bugger all crowds, so maybe the police aren't too worried.

I was always under the impression it was to stop the 2 sets of fans scrapping before games and after games on public transport and the likes.

Possibly. I expect the cops don't expect trouble at the grounds and will be focusing on public transport instead? Bit easier to manage, probably..
