    Have to say well done Sid, it ain't easy to shift weight as you get older. I quickly realised when I turned 35 I no longer had the capacity to eat what I want all the time. After stopping football I was piling on the beef. I had to succumb to the gym for the first time in my life and start actually considering what I ate. To be honest I've pretty much settled into things now, good amount of exercise (at least 3 times a week) and generally try not to eat **** through the week. And of course cut down my booze intake! I still have days like today when I say **** it - but they aren't the norm.

    People say how does someone end up so fat, but I reckon its easy to excuse when you get older. It just creeps on you a bit over time and you get into really bad habits. Problem is the reversal when older is nowt like when you are young!

    Harder to excuse was the young lad I met during a hospital trip recently. Type 2 diabetes and was asking me for tips on how he could eat better and also exercise. I felt like saying well stop going in that cabinet beside your bed at 3am for ****ing wine gums and crisps!

    Cheers, man. I'm down to a skeletal 15 1/2 stone these days and it's been tough, but not as tough, l suspect, as keeping it off!

    Yup. The Cambridge 1:1 & lost 4st despite having 2-week holiday in March (25th wedding anniversary) and a long weekend on the piss with the chaps watching Durham play Lancashire recently :)

    The annoying thing for me is constantly having to buy new clothes. Had to bin my mustard shirts and chinos and cannot source a decent pair anymore as they don’t make them like they used to.
