“It was a good workout and, as I said after the game at Bath City, I could easily get games where we might run out comfortable winners but if we had those sort of matches we wouldn’t really get a lot out of it. Hereford gave us a very good game, and we had to dig deep as they played some really good football at times and we had to be strong, particularly in the first half. I think we had a lot more possession in the second half and we won the game, which is always nice, and gives us a little bit of encouragement. Many players had more than 45 minutes, but plans were disrupted by injuries sustained by Fabian Broghammer (knee) and Jim Paterson (ankle) in the first half, though neither are expected to be out for any length of time. It’s nice to have scored three goals away from home in the games against Bath and Hereford. You don’t get too many goals in games such as these, and now we move on to Friday where we may not see as much of the ball. The two games we have played to date will stand us in good stead for the visit of Derby County. It’s a terrific game to look forward to. Nigel Clough feels he has the best squad he’s had in his time at the club. They regularly finish in the top half of the Championship, so if his team is that much stronger, we face a tough game. That’s great, though, because we don’t want easy options in pre season when we begin the season with some very tough games.”

The last few seasons have told us that pre-season means almost sod all!

Clean sheet...............a win...................Clarkson scores...............lots of players get match time
...........er.......that's it.
