The main issue here is the US administration handling these negotiations, "mediating" them are completely and utterly out of their depth. Donald Trump is not a skilled negotiator, he's a real estate magnate known for purchasing pre-built properties for too much money and making them bankrupt, he doesn't negotiate anything. Trump is also lazy he's golfed a massive portion of his time in office away, has barely travelled, only wants leaders to come to him and mostly chats on the phone from his office or bed. Marco Rubio is mostly a failed campaigner, he's suddenly now the ****ing Secretary of State responsible for a massive peace deal between two nations that despise one another. JD Vance has no idea what he's doing, he's so clearly out of his depth as the VP. So, we have useless morons in the US doing a ****ing **** job negotiating a peace between two countries that despise one another. Neither of these countries wants to acknowledge that they drag people to the front line kicking and screaming, Putin doesn't want to admit that his goals will never be achieved they've all but lost his war and failed in their invasion, Ukraine for their part does not want to admit they're going to have to give up 20% of their territory. On the balance sheet, I'd argue that Ukraine have won the war as the goal of Russia was complete and utter domination and that's never going to happen based on today, but it's upto the US to try and mediate how to have the two people shake hands were neither of them lose too much face. But Trump is simply too stupid to come up with a solution. JD Vance the other day is a man that blamed European countries for starting the Iraq War. These people are never ever going to figure out a way to peace, they are ****ing fools.

I actually questioned why Hezbollah would purposefully fire a missile at the Druze ... as you say, I later accepted that it was likely a Hezbollah misfire based on the evidence available ... even though that evidence was from predominantly pro-Israeli sources ...
