I don't disagree with you mate, but it's the kids I think of, they can't be there when the bulldozers and building materials come in. Unless they make temporary shelters, and how quick do you think the materials to do that will be allowed in...rebuild it all, for your lot to blow it up again lol....soz tongue in cheek there mate, maybe I just don't think the same way as other people. It just seems nuts to me, what is it something like 300,000 people displaced?

There is also the to-date unsolved problem of the vast tunnel network Hamas constructed underneath Gaza (you know, instead of constructing bomb shelters for the civilians it care so much about).

It is unclear how many Israel has managed to destroy or block, but estimates I've seen hover somewhere around 60%, which when you consider that the network is estimated at 500km in length, leaves a huge number that are still intact.

Israel will no doubt want to be intricately involved in the rebuilding process. Some will spin that as Jews just loving a bit of real estate, but there is also a very real concern that if left unsupervised, the remaining 40% of tunnels could be reactivated and reinforced by terror groups.

Yep the numbers now are beyond any reasonable solution unless Israel was to give back land that it took and that just isn’t going to happen.

Like you say, this is the result of keeping these displaced people in perpetual refugee status and two / three generations down the line it has become an intractable problem.

Highlighting the refusal from Israel to grant Palestinians the right to return was more about illustrating the point about why Palestinians will now never leave Gaza, even though it is a ruin. And even under any supposed ‘protected’ banner of some temporary resettlement scheme, as history has shown Palestinians are right to mistrust those who want them removed.

Never mind rebuilding, where's all the rubble going to go. Gonna take years for that alone surely.

Actually you've just given me an idea, the kids can go live down the tunnels, but before I get accused of being insensitive, it's got to be better than living on a rubble dump. the place is ****ed, move on.

When the same construction company that is responsible for building illegal settlements in the West Bank, is now drawing up plans for Condos for Israelis on the coast of Gaza, it’s a bit more than just ‘spin’

You know as well as me that there is a very vocal element in Netanyahu’s govt that openly call for Gaza to be settled by Israelis as they see it as their land.

    Agreed.

Israel should be allowed a security presence in the region during the rebuilding process, nothing more. No Mr Goldbergs running around in chinos and a hardhat with a clipboard.

Pretty much the same thinking as I was having over my change of mind about Ukraine. At some point you have to stop the deaths and if Israel take all the area now, at least future generations of Palestinians won’t continue more decades of suffering.

Fairest thing for me is that Israel/USA pay for the rebuild of any building(s) without any connection to Hamas ... VAR to decide, where it's not clear cut ...

It'll get done before Spurs next win the league.

Of that we can be certain.

It's a cycle of violence, they rebuild the ****hole for Hamas to start trouble from again, and Israel flatten it again. As you say it's the only logical way to stop the suffering, because they are never going to agree on anything. People will think I've gone made, but is it really any madder than the obliteration that we see before our eyes now.
