Yeah, context is everything. Which is exactly why I pointed out that the 'Free Palestine' graffiti on a bridge isn't anti-semitic That was the whole point ffs
It is you fooking idiot, if Jews are having to read it everyday in an area they already feel intimidated.
Literally an hour ago ‘we are all friends and should all get along, life is to short’ Now ‘You fooking racist prick’ You guys make me so happy
I brought it up because you were chatting ****e about me not having any insight into race tensions in London, although you also seem to think it's why I 'ran away' from London And you think I make up ****e You're so muddled it's unreal
... rumour has it that he had to leave London following the milkshake wars of the 1990s but found the composition of a Devon Cream Tea just a bit too complicated... so kept moving south-westwards...
I used to come down here as a kid with my mum and dad. So lots of good childhood memories. I moved away from London to go to Uni, up in the midlands (not coz I was anxious and ran away lol) and after I graduated I spent a few years on the road and lived in various different places, but I always wanted to move down here. I ended up back in London, and used to come down here for long weekends. It was on one of those weekends with my girlfriend at the time that we decided that instead of bombing back and forth, we should jack in our jobs and make the move down here permanently.
Or brb's version. I ran away from London because I was anxious about the influx of all of the brown people, so decided to move as far away as possible and develop my career as a keyboard racist instead
I think this is all pretty much spot on. Morality is too inflexible these days, to the point where common sense is ignored. Things are labelled taboo and offensive without any of the supposed victims of the offense actually being offended.
This ^^^ There's no room for nuance in any of these debates it seems. Using that 'Free Palestine' example, if it's daubed all over a Synagogue then yes it's aimed at Jews and is Anti-Semitic, if it appears in an area on a random wall then it's not, even if some Jews live in the area. In my opinion, that's a legitimate expression of Pro-Palestinian rights and it can't be deemed anti-semitic on the premise that somebody jewish might see it and be offended. That's the nuance. I made the point earlier in the thread, that it seems that a lot of the same media outlets and folk who cry 'woke' and 'snowflake' when people point out that their language and behaviour towards blacks, gays, lesbians, trans etc is derogatory, seem to be exactly the same people who are quick to label any pro palestinian sentiment as offensive to jewish people.
