Sorry - it was a joke. I actually don't see the Taiwan election results as having a big impact on China-Taiwan relations. The new president was the Vice President before and his party actually lost seats in the Congress, so if anything they are weaker. Of course China made lots of noise to try and pressure people into voting for the more pro-China party but the whole lot is just sabre rattling. If they really wanted to harm Taiwan they could just stop trading with them, but its not in their interest to do that. Similarly Sweden joining Nato will piss off Putin but he has enough trouble dealing with Ukraine at the moment, he is not going to invade anyone else.
Sorry mate, I’m slightly autistic so I don’t always pick up on it. That’s on me. With regards to Sweden, I never had Ukraine and Putin in mind. More the country that really runs NATO would have advised them about what’s potentially coming up. Interesting take on Taiwan. I’d never looked at it from that POV. Is it not being seen as a step further away from China and into the hands of USA/Japan?

These guys are about to realise they’ve made a BIG mistake. The Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for the attack on a US-owned cargo ship off the south coast of Yemen earlier today. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree says the group's naval forces carried out a military operation targeting an American ship in the Gulf of Aden with missiles. The spokesman also says that all US and British ships and warships taking part in the "aggression" against Yemen would be targets. He adds that a response to "the American and British attacks is inevitably coming, and that any new attack will not remain without response and punishment".

I personally wouldn't be really interested in going to a war over ****ing Taiwan. What geopolitical benefits are there for us for Taiwan being outside China's sphere of influence? Japan is right ****ing there bro. I'm not against us preparing for such a situation, and if the armed forces are being told such a thing then that's good. It will also be getting back to China that our lot are getting ready. But at the same time, if the Armed Forces are gearing up for war with ****ing China, perhaps the UK gov shouldn't be consistently cutting the armed forces. Doesn't outwardly appear to me that this government is on the brink of war with China, at this point we would probably be taken surprise by Argentina again.
