my view is that Starmer was an idiot to make this a 3 line whip and should have let people vote as they felt as my sure the majority of the public feels the same However i don't think it would have any effect on Israel at all .
It doesn't matter except to see the labour votes. I wasn't expecting a different result. There wasn't anywhere near enough will from either party to do what imo was the right thing. The reasons given against a ceasefire were weak as piss and nobody really challenged them. Part of the reason why I said it was tragic in every sense.
I would have played it political too. Just let the party MPs vote as they see fit and say "Vote as you think your constituents would like you to vote." The Tories were going to block vote anyway most likely and there would have been enough Labour MPs, including Starmer himself to vote against the ceasefire. It wasn't going to pass.
