Incredible that Ukraine is still holding Bahkmut, Ukraine know how to dig in and not turn tail. Still think the fight itself is a pointless one, which seems to be the brain child of the Ukrainian president and not the Ukrainian armed forces.

I also have wonders about what the Tory's plan on doing with UK defence spending, which in all truth needs to be increased.

First thing I would suggest is just moving the nuclear deterrent burden from the UK armed forces budget and directly onto the Treasury, who have a lot more money to play with. Then that money can be used on real ordinance and not on nukes which will likely never be used. No party will ever do that ofc, but it is common sense.

Things like chemical and biological weapons are a definite no no, but I've just watched a report on both Ukrainians and Russians allegedly using landmines and I think they're just as abhorrent. They'll kill and maim innocent folk including children which is just vile. And they'll carry on doing it for years/decades after the war is over. It's a ****ty way to fight a modern war imo.

Agree, but the war has devolved into a WW2-esque slog now. Trenches, ruins, air support is fizzing out and both sides are running low on artillery

Mines are a very important device in that environment

Nah I don't see any justification for it. They're completely indiscriminate in who they kill or maim.

I heard them say that mines are being laid to maim not to kill. Because a maimed person causes more problems to the opposite side than a dead person.

British soldiers in Afghanistan tended to fear getting their legs blown off by IEDs and mines, more than they feared getting shot and killed by a bullet.

It’s a war…..we got nukes are they not indiscriminate in its intended purpose ….remember the uproar of the public in Britain when Jeremy corbyn said he wouldn’t be pushing no fking button <laugh>

War is no more than a money maker for the military complex and all involved are always making more demonic moves for more devastating weapons
