Easy to say now though, when he hasn't exactly got a choice in where he's playing. It's in his own interests to knuckle down now, and perform well, if he still wants to move next summer.
I think that comes across in his quotes. The way he talks about the stated aims for the season, he refers to the goals and what we want for next season as well. Personally I think if it was down to Victor he would be quite happy to carry on playing here, but no doubt his agent and possibly friends/family have bigger ideas for him and he doesn't want to let anyone down.
A season later, he gets his wish. Thanks for the last three seasons Vic and fair play to you with your move to a club with UCL football. Hopefully you have absolute stinkers against us next season. please log in to view this image
Southampton Football Club can confirm midfielder Victor Wanyama has joined Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee. The Kenya international departs after three seasons at St Mary’s, having arrived on the south coast from Scottish outfit Celtic in the summer of 2013. Wanyama went on to make 97 appearances in all competitions for Southampton, netting four goals in total and helping the club achieve three top-eight finishes in the Premier League. He now moves to White Hart Lane, where he will link up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino. Southampton Football Club would like to thank Victor for his time at the club and wish him well for the future.
