Lamela made a big mistake in going to Tottenham, if ever a player & club didn't fit it was those two. It's a shame his career seems to have stagnated and he now has a reputation as a flop, he was beautiful to watch at Roma.
And they still haven't learnt, if it is true that their offer for Berahino included only £5m up front - with the rest being instalments and incentive payments. Total joke. What idiot at Spurs thought that WBA might accept?
I suspect VW won't end up at Spurs, full stop. Pochettino wants him but I don't see Levy keeping going with Pochettino for the entire season. He's the twelfth Spurs manager this century and he'll outstay his welcome at some point before the season's through. Three points in four games is well into Levy sacking territory. Even if Pochettino does stay, this time next year Levy will be offering an even lower sum and clever shenanigans to make it look smaller and I suspect it'll just not be worth our while selling him. Then, if Victor's been running down his contract through spite (which only Talk Sport have said), he's in for a shocking time when he realises that no-one wants him. Spurs can afford a salary higher than us but after them you're looking at the top four and, much as I rate him, I don't think he's going to end up at any of them. He's good because of the team he's in. You can say that about many of our players but with Big Vic I think it's a bit more obvious, both to us and to potentail purchasers. I hope this is all a storm in a teacup and that a break in Kenya gets his head back in order enough that he at least thinks about renewing a contract with us. If he's unwilling to pull his weight, let him rot. It'll cost us but it will pay in the long run if players realise we mean what we say when it comes to contracts. Vin
They offered us the chance to take two overpaid underperformers off their hands? Be still, mine heart.
It's in Victor's interest to play well, especially if he wants a decent move next season. When he's calmed down he will realise this and, as Ron said, he should talk to Morgan.
According to Les Reed, we didn't actually receive a serious bid from Spurs for Victor so hard to judge what Levy was doing other than causing problems between the player and the management to try and get a cheap deal
It's exactly what Levy has been doing with WBA. Levy bids way under the valuation. Further bids that are almost as insulting merely harden the stance of the other club. WBA told them to sling their hook weeks ago, yet they still kept nibbling away trying to get Berahino on the cheap. Only in the last couple of days had they started throwing proper money at the transfer, but WBA had well and truly dug their heels in by then. Saints said NO, weeks ago. That was meant to be it, but Levy tried an insulting bid or two. Wanyama being a holding midfielder, Levy didn't get overly excited and we didn't budge an inch because losing Victor wasn't in our plans. So no serious bid was forthcoming.
Yep. Although it's not the same, it still feels like losing Shearer and gaining Speedie and Dixon in return.
Sounds more like it. I mean there was rumours at the start of last season that they wanted to give us cash plus Harry Kane for an injured J Rod.
No serious bid doesn't mean we didn't receive a laughable one. Serious bid (that makes Les Reed get out of bed)>>>>>>>>>>>>>bid not exactly insulting (Les Reed gives polite reply)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Spurs bid (Les Reed laughs so much his assistant considers applying CPR).
I applaud the stance taken by some clubs lately, the clubs have take a stance and shown that they will not be dictated to by players under contract.
