and misses the Greece international -

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI WILL have to plan without striker Jon Walters for the international friendly against Greece this week.

The Stoke City man is injured, the FAI have revealed this evening.

“The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that Jon Walters has been ruled out of this Wednesday’s friendly against Greece with a knee injury,” a statement reads.

“He will return to his club later this evening for treatment. No replacement has been called up.”

Trapattoni is expected to name his starting 11 after training tomorrow. There is a doubt over Paul McShane (calf) who sat out today’s session in Malahide with Walters.

Must have missed that on Saturday <doh>

Watched the game online, I remember the commentator saying he couldn't understand why they hadn't stopped the game because of Walters' bleeding. Didn't see him again until after he'd been bandaged up, but I get what he meant now, that's not exactly just a trickle!!

Yeh I wasn't aware of how serious it was at the time, but I do remember Jonny going down as it is a rare thing when Jonny is down on the ground for too long as it takes a lot for him to stay down as he's not a tart.
