A bit touchy today Donald, had another pm from taffy?!!! Okay, back on topic. I'll go for a defeat as Walsall are solid at home in their results so far. We don't like draws.
KR says they are confident tonight, after waxing lyrical about how wonderful Walsall are. I'm a bit sceptical about this confidence. All this talk about not taking our chances. It's a bit like Rory McIlroy saying he should have gone round in 64 because he had the chances but missed the putts (Not that Rory would say that). In my experience when a golfer plays well but misses short putts it eventually affects the rest of his game. The nearest we have to a natural finisher is JFC, and he seems to have stopped getting in the box. Clarke is a good player but has yet to get off the mark, Fosu doesn't look like he will score, Gillingham neutralised Big Josh by putting a big man on him, and Ricky Holmes can't always do it all on his own, especially if he's double marked. So where is the confidence coming from? Answers please on the optimism thread.
Blimey. If Walsall have more shots than us it'll break SR's heart Football can be a damned cruel game sometimes
2 - 0 and Oztumer to get both! Another loss, and a post-match of "we simply weren't good enough, but we're working on it."
That can’t have been the line up Robinson wanted to field tonight - at least 3 of those players need a rest / dropping. Hopeless bench too, and no sign of the fraud sicknote Lord Lucan reeves
Fosu scored from a Ricky Holmes pass. Sounds like we are battering them, but can't find that second goal.
Walsall equaliser, Tyler Roberts 41 minutes - Walsall had apparently begun to make other chances before taking this one...
All about taking your chances. To concede at such a time will put a totally different complexion on the game. I can see us losing and then you'll hear some more drivel from Robinson on how undeserved things were, blah blah f****** blah.
Our gaffer has to pick the players up now and prevent another second half fade-away. Only he can inspire them now. Big test for Charlton in this second half. Turn this set-back into a win and prove we have some of the grit needed to compete for promotion, or allow Walsall's home reputation to intimidate us and see those play-off places recede another point or two into the distance.
Because it's an attacking set up with JFC playing CDM. We must have been all over them for the first half hour with 65% possession and eight attempts on goal - half on target. Probably spends his afternoons at the valley doing spreadsheets.
Tarique Fosu has just gone down injured apparently. A delay in play is reported... EDIT: Delay now over, without a substitution as far as I know. Hope Fosu is OK...
