Another pretty average performance in front of a big crowd and we can have no complaints about the draw as it could have gone either way. We were very hesitant for most of the game with our passing (and the final ball in particular) being well below par. Dodds apparently had an excuse for his poor performance but Rodman was woeful and I fail to see what he brings to the team. At least with three centre- forwards we had targets to hit and it was another fine goal from Payne. I was very surprised to hear Grimmer slated on B and A - it was not his best form but he is one of the few players we have who will actually run at the opposition and tries to make things happen. Unfortunately we had too many who wanted to hide for the first hour.
The odds on staying up are probably marginally in our favour but we need one big performance (and a win!) from the three remaining games and it is difficult to see us doing that based on this performance. Ever the optimist I will make the short journey to Northampton on Monday in hope rather than expectation.

We never play well against Walsall, so any form of result is a bonus! We did look unsettled and that might not have been the case if Payne had taken the opportunity in the first minute. Successful passing needs sorting out alongside the retention of the ball when a player heads it on. Payne did some cracking work and the flick ons he does need to be successfully worked on in training so that others know where to place themselves. Morris worked well in midfield and the back three of Brown, Sadler and Nsiala were great. Grimmer is not looking match fit in terms of sharpness and hasn't done himself much favours in the managers eyes today in terms of securing a contract offer. He did do good things, but often fluffed it after doing something well. Leutwiler had a good game and I can't recall any kicks that went out of play.

The teams around us didn't do well barring Gillingham so we remain in a safeish position, but as said a good win with an improved goal difference would be very helpful in our plight. Hopefully that'll come on Monday and secured on Saturday!

Oldham look much safer after their win yesterday so we need to match the results of any two from Bury, Swindon and Port Vale to stay up. Bolton need something when they visit Vale and lets hope Walsall can do us a favour with Vale's game in hand. The odds are probably slightly in our favour and three points may be enough.

It's getting tight isn't it? Those games against Chesterfield, Vale and Coventry should have seen us clear or relegation.

It does look like Vale have a tough run in and hopefully we get a good result on Monday.
