As we have got 'bigus dickus' for a year I am not sure if the 'wally with the brolly' had come to us instead of you what I would have thought. He has achieved some good things and underachieved in others but then all managers have, including Eggnog, who have been around awhile. I suspect for both managers the amount of spend and new players they can bring in is the crucial thing.

Yeah I mean I was expecting charnley to step in as coach so this is better than expected. Better than pardew. If he fails, it won't be his fault. It will be mike Ashley's. No one can succeed with no competition to push the players, no quality to begin wit . And a bunch of ****ty attitudes.

He did a good job at Middlesbrough, would never dispute that for a second, but that was how many years ago? In the current he has failed in his last 4 jobs and isn't good enough for Championship Derby. Football is changing all the time and McClaren for me is outdated. Plus he was more bothered his compensation than coming in to help us from relegation.

I have the feeling his tenure could reek of a burning colostomy bag but I'll put up with the vile stench and get behind him all the same.

Failed at Wolfsburg and England, Forest were a joke that season no manager would have made any difference.

Never failed at Twente, turned a big profit on players and left them after less than a season in 5th place well in touch with the pack. They've nosedived after he left. They're nowhere near competing now.

Derby were a sham when he took over, he worked with a thin squad and almost had them up last season, QPR snatched that from them. This season they just run out of steam and the competition was much stronger.

It's a mixed (colostomy) bag with McClaren. One of my memories of him is the Middlesbrough fan who got onto the pitch and threw his season ticket at him after Villa put four past boro at the riverside (shortly after arsenal thrashed them 7-0. I think Cattermole was crying on the pitch that day).

But he also won a trophy for them (for which we'd build a statue of him).

    Only time will tell.

First spell did brilliant with Twente but he only lasted 13 months, I will be very happy to be proved wrong. Also felt at Derby that Clough did the donkey work for him to take over, remember watching some very impressive displays under him for Derby like in the play off home game against Brighton.

"only lasted 13 months" didn't he leave to go to Wolfsburg ( a bigger club). As for Derby just look at the points they got before him (about 50ish points per season for the previous 4 seasons) and the points they got with him (about 60-65 points per season), if that is failure then people have become pretty unrealistic.

He had two spells at Twente, second spell he got sacked, just taking the information off his Wikipedia page.
